  • Not what it used to be

Breaks my heart to say this, as this Pod used to be one of my favorites, but it’s now almost unlistenable. The new line up is too chatty and wastes so much time gabbing about their lives; J. And Zach were much better. Also, the frequent ADs are very distracting. I get that they all gotta make money, but there are way too many.

  • Those Ads!

This was always my go-to podcast. Never missed an episode. I always overlooked the little things, like a full minute into of the guest talking about what they were going to talk about in the interview. Or the silly Kevin T ad read before the interview. But then, there was a couple of longer ad spots added to the intro. Annoying but I could fast forward through them. But now… there are ad spots that start playing in mid-sentence while someone is speaking! Horrible editing. And they are looong too... more

  • Informative and Entertaining!

I've never listened to a podcast where the hosts continually update on all the important going ons in the writing industry, while bringing in amazing authors at the same time. I listened to the episode with NYT author Riley Sagar and host Christine who talked about Riley's new book. I immediately wanted to go out and buy it after listening to the episode.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Sustaining a career in romance with New York Times bestselling author, Lori Foster.
Q: What makes romance such a compelling genre for you, and how do you approach character development?
Romance centers on strong, relatable characters whose real problems and growth drive the narrative. The genre allows readers to connect emotionally and see hopeful outcomes, which motivates Foster to craft deep, resonant relationships with clear emotional arcs.
Sustaining a career in romance with New York Times bestselling author, Lori Foster.
Q: How did you get started in writing, and what kept you going during the early, tougher years?
I started writing as a leisure activity, found encouragement from family, and kept at it for years despite repeated rejections. I sold the first book after a long process, which reinforced my determination to continue and expand into more titles.
The Ending Writes Itself, co-authors VE Schwab and Cat Clarke.
Q: What advice would you give writers considering a move into co-writing or expanding into new genres?
They encourage experimentation but stress staying true to what you want to read and enjoy writing. They advise testing collaboration with clear delineation of roles, maintaining an outline or plan, and being willing to pivot creatively while protecting the core story you want to tell. They also remind creators that trends are unreliable and personal passion is a key driver of longevity.
The Ending Writes Itself, co-authors VE Schwab and Cat Clarke.
Q: What was the dynamic like when you two decided to co-write, and how did you navigate differences in voice and tone?
The pair describe a collaborative process built on outline development, side-by-side drafting, and iterative revisions. They emphasize mutual respect, testing different paragraphs or beats, and sometimes bringing in a third party for perspective. They found that the strongest results came from a shared blueprint and a willingness to adapt while keeping Evelyn Clarke's voice consistent.
The Ending Writes Itself, co-authors VE Schwab and Cat Clarke.
Q: How did the decision to write under the Evelyn Clarke pen name come about, and what distinguishes Evelyn Clarke's voice from your individual voices?
They wanted Evelyn Clarke to feel like a distinct third voice—funny, slightly less pretentious than VE Schwab, and with a cinematic, dialogue-driven sensibility that could harmonize VE Schwab's prose with Cat Clarke's pacing. They discussed the practical and aesthetic reasons behind the name change and how the two voices merge into one coherent authorial presence.
