Being of similar age, and the middle daughter of 7 siblings, this story was so relatable. I also had an abusive father and loving mother who tried to be protective, but this was the late ‘50’s and 60’s! It brought back a lot of memories, good and not so good. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Full disclosure:
I am a HUGE fan of Phantom of The Paradise, and My Favourite Year, as well as her appearance in Tales From The Crypt, so temper my enthusiasm knowing I was a fan before listening.
That said, this is what storytelling and podcasts are meant to be. Funny, sad, heartwarming, nostalgic and simply comfortable. You can relate to almost everything even though your personal experiences are different in your own families.
Very well done indeed and thoroughly enjoyable!
This podcast is completely self-indulgent. I can’t believe that I wasted my time listening to the whole thing. The big “reveal” in the end was not earth-shattering like the listener is led to believe. This podcast might be interesting for the family, but it’s not that interesting for everyone else.
I really liked the home spun honestly; I also loved the music.
Perfectly done. I am enjoying your story, your telling of it and especially the writing. ❤️
