I can’t wait to spend time checking this out more than I have!
I love movie podcasts, and this one is fun because it’s two guys NOT in the industry (unlike Blank Check or How Did This Get Made). They can get pretty far off topic sometimes, but it’s always obvious how much they genuinely love movies, and that passion is infectious. Plus, their perspective of well informed “normal” people (as opposed to critics, actors, etc.) hits a nice niche that I imagine is relatable to most of the people listening to film podcasts. The greatest movie podcast of all time AND the greatest romance podcast of all time.
I generally like this podcast, and I think they’ve grown a lot... but I just listened to a few minutes of the Beetlejuice episode and am surprised how rude the ginger is to the guest. The show analyzes romance in film through playful banter, rigorous critique, and a shared love of cinema. Episodes blend character-by-character breakdowns, production context, and cultural touchpoints, often featuring a guest who adds genre or thematic expertise. A recurring strength is the hosts' chemistry and ability to connect movie moments to broader ideas about relationships, gender dynamics, and storytelling, all while keeping the discussion accessible and entertaining for a broad audience. Notable elements include pronoun analyses, meta-commentary about marketing and posters, and thoughtful yet humorous takes on why certain on-screen romances feel earned or fictionalized.
