I’ve been reading war and peace for a couple years, and I’ve tried multiple podcasts to help me along with it (why are there so many?) and this is the best one by far. So diplomat.
Sort of funny but not enough to make up for how much they get wrong. They even have an unnecessary part of the show where they “read” the book…. But did they?
Thank you for this podcast. I listen to shows when I’m out walking and often have to stop on the street because I’m laughing so hard. I’m also reading War and Peace at the same time- it makes the book so much fun.
These two are incredibly funny and I hope they go on to review many other books together! It’s hard to overstate how funny they are especially since they’re just two blokes like ones a maths teacher and the other is a married guy or something. Much much funnier than most professional comedians is what I’m saying. This podcast deserves waaay more recognition. Love it!
Their reading comprehension gets a lot better after book 1. Not sure if that’s a positive change or negative. Either way I’m still listening

When you can braid periodic Smurf fun facts and vivid Russian imagery, you've got a clam pearl.
Very good, but lacks salty mirth
“There was nothing wrong or unseemly in what they said, it was witty and might’ve been funny, but it lacked just that something which is the salt of mirth, and they were not even aware that such a thing existed.” - Tolstoy
Listening may even incite some artistry and creativity, which the playful, slightly-frustrated banter bouy *chef’s kiss*.
Embarrassed to admit (but I will) that I have a genuinely greater appreciation for my favorite book after this podcast. So many benefits of revisiting WAP through the lens of these irreverent and hilariously funny guys.
Funny podcast, entertaining banter and some genuine insight into the Novel. Easy read at this speed, what a fun idea😊
For example, things like “name day” can be easily looked up, along with the reason why they tend to speak French. Adding some of that would make the show more well rounded. Especially mentioning 2 episodes in a row that you’re not sure what name day is makes the listener wonder why you didn’t look that up at all.
I’ve been listening to this podcast for months, and it never fails to disappoint. Will and Steve are hilarious in their witty comments and banter. I think one of the reasons it’s so great is because these guys have known each other for a while, so their conversations aren’t awkward or flat. It really feels like sitting down with a couple of friends as they review a book they know absolutely nothing about. It’s amazing. If you’re having a bad day, put in their podcast and it’ll cheer you up.
I love listening to audiobooks and decided to tackle War & Peace with the hopes that it could offer perspective on these challenging times. However, though I’ve read Les Miserables and others involving Napoleon, the historical references were escaping me. I decided to search for any sort of help, and serendipitously discovered this HiLaRiOuS podcast. Imagine my surprise that what I actually needed to read W&P was levity. I cannot recommend this podcast enough…I’ve belly-laughed during each episo... more
