  • Wonderful Resource for Families

This podcast offers an in depth look at world schooling from diverse perspectives in digestible and accessible episodes with different themes. As a family on our first world schooling adventure, I found this podcast to be a wonderful resource both for inspiration and resources. Thank for you for this offering. It fills a much needed niche in the world school space. If you are open to creating some teen/tween themed episodes we would love to hear those!

It was also a relief to hear guests talk about one of the world school hubs we’ll be visiting. Love it!

Talking Points

53. A Field School in Europe's Sunniest Island: Why Hvar is the Ultimate Mediterranean Slow Travel Destination
Q: How can people learn more about the Field School of Hvar and enroll?
Follow on Instagram and Facebook, visit fieldschoolhvar.org, and keep an eye on enrollment timelines; fall and spring programs run on a traditional academic schedule while summer is more relaxed, with enrollment for 2027 opening in June.
53. A Field School in Europe's Sunniest Island: Why Hvar is the Ultimate Mediterranean Slow Travel Destination
Q: What advice would you give to a family starting out on a worldschool or gap-year journey?
Don't let other people's plans define yours. Start small if needed—a two-week program or a family adventure—and gradually test the waters while maintaining flexibility and avoiding over-planning.
53. A Field School in Europe's Sunniest Island: Why Hvar is the Ultimate Mediterranean Slow Travel Destination
Q: Tell me a little more about how the field school started and what people can participate in.
The field school grew from a convergence of personal motherhood, caregiving, and a desire to protect and nurture a place like Hvar. It offers three seasons (summer, fall, spring) with a focus on child enrichment, family co-living, and community facilitation, plus a 12-week academic-year option for gap years and worldschooling families.
51. Full Time Travel Doesn’t Fix Your Problems (And What It Does Instead) with Astrid & Clint from Worldschooling Q&A
Q: And then we'll also share more about your podcast, because if people are wanting to learn more about world schooling, that's a great place to start with the Q&A sessions that you have. Tell me a little more about where travel started for each of you.
Astrid and Clint describe early travel roots: Astrid's Peace Corps years and international upbringing, and Clint's domestic travels in the US; their paths converged after moving to Seattle and then Europe, sparking a love for long-term travel and world schooling.
50. Study Abroad in Germany in 1969 to Around the World in 1975: What World Travel Looked Like 50+ Years Ago with Grandma Marcia
Q: What advice would you have for someone wondering whether to take a trip like that before having kids?
Just go for it. It's worth planning and organizing, but it's also feasible today with many more reservation options and hubs to rely on, and the experience can be transformative even if some moments are challenging.
