  • Focus on the Big Issues

I like the format but I gotta say the obsession with the Great Highway is a head scratcher. The city has *a lot* of really big difficult issues and a road closure is so far down the list it really shouldn’t even be on the list. We have to revitalize this city and restore its reputation. WHO CARES ABOUT SOME DUMB ROAD. You seem like a reasonable guy, maybe put some perspective into what you cover? In 30 years, will anyone care about an argument over this road? Of course not, they’ll care about th... more

Great show John! Keep up the good work!! You are spot on about keeping the Great Highway open. 17,000 to 20,000 cars a day use the highway. The city officials supporting the closure need to be voted out!

  • So happy to find your podcast!

I frequently listened to your show on KGO when commuting home and was extremely disappointed when they changed formats. You’ve were always fair to your callers and a reasonable voice in SF Bay Area talk radio.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Prop A: The real story with James Dalessandro
Q: James, why do you believe Prop A will not solve San Francisco's fire protection problems?
Because it diverts hundreds of millions away from proven, high‑pressure saltwater systems and into a reservoir of unrelated projects, leaving the city with a feeble water approach that has repeatedly failed in past emergencies.
Gus Mattammal, candidate for Superintendent of Public Instruction with John Rothmann
Q: Gus, tell us a little about yourself and why you want to run for this office
Gus shares his upbringing in a low-income, diverse family, his education path from Pomona College to Yale, and his decades of experience in tutoring and education leadership, framing his run as a mission to raise reading and math standards and to promote job-readiness for California students.
An interview with John Pimentel candidate for the State Board of Equalization
Q: What is your stance on eliminating the sales tax on food, and how would you handle the revenue gap?
Eliminate the tax to relieve working families, but backfill through closing loopholes and finding additional revenues to avoid harming essential programs, including education and local services.
An interview with John Pimentel candidate for the State Board of Equalization
Q: What are the core functions of the State Board of Equalization, and how would you influence change given it cannot unilaterally legislate?
The board audits county assessors, oversees statewide assets crossing county lines, sets assessment processes, and serves as a platform to push issues to the legislature through persuasion and advocacy to improve the tax system.
An interview with John Pimentel candidate for the State Board of Equalization
Q: Who are you, and why are you running for the State Board of Equalization?
I bring experience from Assembly Fellow to Deputy Secretary for Transportation and want to reform the tax system to reduce volatility and broaden access, with a focus on fairness and accountability in how taxes are collected and used.
