If you're a movie lover, film buff, or dedicated cinephile, the Video Store Podcast is a genuine treasure. Instead of focusing on the same handful of movies everyone talks about, it shines a spotlight on obscure, overlooked, and forgotten films that are absolutely worth discovering.

Love the varied topic range presented in this pod. It’s has a kinship to The Retroist podcast in that it explores unique, sometimes niche or forgotten avenues of our youth memory that many of us still hold in great reverence. As much of the targeted subject matter fades farther and farther into the historical rearview, it is great to get to revisit these subjects through the eyes and ears of others that have had these common experiences.
What a fun concept for a podcast! Different hosts and super fun topics. If you love movies check this one out! One of my new favorites that I can listen to on repeat!

A nostalgia-tinged cinephile show where a rotating crew of former video-store staff share deep cuts, retro classics, and behind-the-counter anecdotes. Episodes weave together thoughtful debates on themes like group dynamics in ensemble films, undercover cinema, disaster epics, and the cultural impact of home video—often paired with personal memories from the era and practical viewing tips. A standout throughline is how physical media culture shaped film appreciation, pricing, promotions, and community around renting movies, making it a reliable pick for listeners who love film history as much as recommendations.
Noteworthy is the consistent emphasis on community nostalgia and industry context, plus guest-free explorations that feel like a ... more
