Reviews

4.3 out of 5 stars from 34 ratings
  • Such a waste

So disappointing that this is the official Austin FC podcast and gets all the player access. The hosts don’t know much about soccer and it shows. They spend most of each episode peacocking to draw attention to any fact they know c even cutting off players in interesting conversations. They tell some decent stories around the game but the team needs to let players be interviewed elsewhere.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Voice
Q: What was it like transitioning from Q2 Stadium to Azteca in terms of crowd energy and scale?
Jeremiah talks about the Azteca crowd being wrapped around the stadium with intense noise, a feeling of being part of a global football culture, and how the atmosphere created an almost religious experience for him as a broadcaster.
The Voice
Q: Is soccer where you feel like you do your best work?
Jeremiah explains that soccer's fast pace and the culture around the game excite him more than other sports, though he loves announcing across multiple domains, with soccer offering unique rhythm and crowd energy that he finds particularly rewarding.
Casa Zardes
Q: Gyasi, from a striker's perspective, how different is it playing by yourself up top versus with a striker partner?
Being up top with two threats allows more creative movement and space creation; you can link with a partner who pulls defenders away, while also switching the line of play to exploit gaps, which makes the system hard to defend.
Superman Two
Q: Can you talk about growing up in Colombia and how soccer found you?
Christian Ramirez describes a humble upbringing, time in Colombia and Southern California, and how his father's work ethic and family background shaped his drive to pursue soccer professionally.
Cup Dreams
Q: Would you prioritize attending any game or specifically the opening match and a favored team?
The ideal is to see a preferred matchup like Mexico, but any World Cup game close by can still be a life-changing experience, provided the overall trip is affordable and well-planned.
