  • I’m no longer scared

Dr. Jedha is a stellar communicator. My doctor said, I needed to be on medication for pre diabetes. I was nervous and hopeful that I could find someone to educate me in a way that I understood. Now I feel armed with answers to help me help myself. I’m so thankful for this informative, entertaining and inspiring podcast.

Thank you do much Dr. Jedha🙏

  • Thank You!

I refused to go on medication last year when my doctor told me I was now diabetic. He told me he was proud of me, but I had 3 months to get my numbers under control or we’d have to medicate. I found your podcast & love it! I recently subscribed. My A1C is now in the normal range & I have lost around 50lbs in the last year.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

121: Diabetes Foods Q&A #11
Q: Diane asked about still cut oatmeal with bread and a blood sugar spike; what should she do?
This breakfast likely has too much carbohydrate and too little protein, fat, and fiber. Shift breakfast toward higher-protein options (eggs, yogurt with nuts, or a protein smoothie) to stabilize blood sugar and appetite for the day.
121: Diabetes Foods Q&A #11
Q: Pat asked, if I swap my full fat Greek yogurt to fresh cream, is that okay for pre-diabetes?
Fresh cream is low in carbohydrates and has little direct effect on blood glucose, but dairy fat content and myths about saturated fat should be considered; dairy can be included as part of a balanced diet when overall fat and portions are appropriate.
121: Diabetes Foods Q&A #11
Q: Karen asked, carbs versus glycemic index. What is the difference between the two measures and which measure is more important?
GI measures how quickly a food raises blood sugar, while total carbohydrate load reflects how much glucose enters the bloodstream; in practice, total carbohydrate load tends to have a bigger impact on blood sugar, so focusing on portion sizes/total carbs is typically more important, with GI remaining a secondary consideration.
107: Karol Chooses Diet For Prediabetes Treatment
Q: What would be your best advice to other people wanting to make a change in their lives?
To push through, to believe that they can do it, to persevere.
106: Diabetes Q&A #9: Meter Reading Differences, Illness & A1c, Thyroid Connection, Glucose-to-A1c, Fasting Variations, and More
Q: How can I lower my A1C if I can't exercise?
Focus on nutrition as it is the biggest driver of blood sugar control, even without exercise it is possible to achieve normal A1C levels.
