When Dr. McGee is right, he is right. When he is wrong, he is very wrong. An example: a question came in about the use of, “unicorn” in Num 23:22, Job 39:9-12, and Psalm 29:6. Dr. McGee declared, in all seriousness, that the unicorn was a real, literal animal that existed, but is now extinct. The truth is that the unicorn is a mythical animal that never existed, and the use of that word in the King James is simply a poor word choice by the translator. Questions & Answers 3059
Q: How should we understand Colossians 1:15 and Revelation 1:5 in light of Christ as the Creator and the firstborn of all creation?
McGee explains that these verses affirm the deity of Christ and His preeminent role in creation and resurrection; He is described as the image of the invisible God and the firstborn from the dead, signaling both preexistence and the unique authority of Christ. The discussion stresses that being the 'beginning' or 'firstborn' does not imply a created status but denotes leadership in the divine order and the initiation of creation and salvation history.
Questions & Answers 3059
Q: Should the following passages be taken literally? Genesis 2:1-2, John 5:28-29, Hebrews 9:26b, and 2 Peter 3:8?
McGee asserts a literal reading for the Genesis creation account (six 24-hour days) and argues that the resurrection language in John 5 and Hebrews 9 refers to future events, with 2 Peter 3:8 indicating God's perspective on time rather than a universal rule about how time works; he warns against reading all time-frames as literal 24-hour days without considering context, while maintaining that some passages should be read plainly and others symbolically based on their literary genre and immediate purpose.
Questions & Answers 3059
Q: If Jesus is the Creator of all things, why does the Bible call him the beginning of creation or the firstborn of all creation?
McGee argues that these descriptors do not make Jesus a creature; rather, Scripture presents Him as the Creator who is the source and beginning of all creation, grounded in passages like Colossians 1:16-17 which state that by Him all things were created. He emphasizes a literal interpretation of creation in six days and uses supporting verses to uphold the deity of Christ while explaining how the 'begotten' language in Revelation and related texts points to resurrection and exaltation, not Bethlehem birth.
Questions & Answers 3057
Q: There is a notation to Mark 16 verses 9 through 20, which says that the most reliable early manuscripts omit this passage. If this is true, why is it in the Bible, and should we accept it as Canon of Scripture?
The host explains that the question centers on how those verses entered public canon; after examining older manuscripts and competing authorities, he suggests they were likely in the canon from the beginning and discusses the implications while acknowledging the debate and the nuance required for doctrinal use.
Questions & Answers 3055
Q: Since Jesus fulfilled the law, would it be scriptural to say that Jesus fulfilled the Sabbath rest?
Yes, the fourth chapter of Hebrews develops the Sabbath rest as a present reality in Christ, not a ceremonial rule for the old covenant, illustrating the continuity between rest in the Old Testament and the rest believers experience in redemption through Him.
