  • A godsend for the weird world of wedding vendors

This is the exact podcast we wedding photographers didn't know we needed. The wedding podcast world is saturated with boss babe energy and posturing educational influencers, which is all fine and dandy, but the space Mike and Lauren have created together is totally unique, so breathtaking and unapologetically real. Our job can be crazy and for creative solopreneurs, it's so comforting to have so many of our experiences reflected back to you with humor, wit and intelligence. As far as the naysaye... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#142: "Nobody cares how you hold your camera" (with Susan Stripling)
Q: What do you think separates photographers who last versus those who burn out after like five to seven years?
You cannot make your business your personality; if you're unhappy with your business, you'll have self-worth issues correlated with it.
#141: Why adventure elopements are thriving! (with Maddie Mae)
Q: What common misconception do couples have about elopement?
Many people still think elopements are cheap and secretly run-off weddings when in reality they are intentional, intimate ceremonies planned in advance, focused entirely on the couple.
#140: Navigating the legal side of the wedding industry (with Paige Griffith)
Q: Does a client have to sign a cancellation contract?
No one is legally obligated to sign anything, but it's good practice to send a cancellation contract after a voluntary cancellation has been communicated.
#140: Navigating the legal side of the wedding industry (with Paige Griffith)
Q: Can vendors actually have a clause in their contract stating no negative reviews?
No, it's illegal under consumer protection laws to restrict clients from posting negative reviews as long as they are truthful.
#140: Navigating the legal side of the wedding industry (with Paige Griffith)
Q: Who legally owns the wedding photos by default?
The photographer owns the wedding photos by default if they are composing the shot and clicking the shutter.
