I came into this as a fan of Friends at the Table looking for something with a similar commitment to interesting storytelling. This delivers! I may even like it more than FaTT, which has a large cast not all of whom I connect with. This show has a small cast with excellent creative synergy. The settings and stories are fascinating, and I love how collaborative the storytelling feels. There’s no friction between systems and storytelling. I started with Ruin’s Gate and LOVED the setting, vibe, and... more
I'm really on their wavelength, they're basically always making the artistic and narrative choices that make me hoot
This has been the only new actual play podcast I've been able to get into since 2018 when I fell in love with Friends at the Table and it ruined (what I thought was) all other podcasts for me. Over the last year Ruin's Gate is one of only three (3) podcasts I've stayed caught up on, and I just recently finished Deliverance, OH. The rolls have meaning and consequences. The characters are interesting and intertwined. The worlds have heft. The Man In Black owns my heart.
I’m so proud to call the Unexplored Places team colleagues from my alma mater. Their rapport with one another, their individual creative talents, and their eagerness to explore (pun intended) the vast world of table-top RPGS make for captivating and often hilarious storytelling.

This actual-play series centers on a group navigating high-stakes fantasy adventures with a strong emphasis on collaborative storytelling, character-driven moments, and world-building across different RPG systems. Episodes balance exploration, moral choices, and tactical play, often blending horror, intrigue, and lighthearted banter, with a notably inclusive and queer-friendly cast that engages deeply with relationships and personal stakes. A standout quality is the rotating systems and setting experimentation, which keeps narratives fresh while maintaining tight group chemistry and high production energy.
