The McElroys have been blessing me with comedy gold for half a decade now and The Adventure Zone is the standout standard.
Highly entertaining!
This is not a D&D "actual play" podcast. I don't know why it's labeled as such. Marketing purposes?
Nobody at the table knows the rules of D&D 5e. The DM doesn't know what "armor class" is and keeps asking his players for non-existent "bluff checks". Players just cast spells beyond their level "because it's fun".
So this is basically middling improv with occasional dice rolls that don't mean anything. It's not D&D and should be advertised as a scripted radio play with some non-scripted jokes.
They somehow find a way to continue telling thoughtful, compelling, hilarious stories.
I left a really long and crazy review one time but let me shorten this up. Adventure zone is awesome 10/10 Would listen to all of it again. Perfect balance (see what I did there?) between game and story. Highly recommend.
