  • I really enjoy this one, usually listening on dog walks :) The conversational mode with humor and finding out about how people started out writing, some about who they are as people, and their experiences writing everything from mystery to sports romance to time travel, is fun to listen to! The hosts have a great free flow interaction with authors and it’s just really enjoyable and never boring. It’s the only podcast that I’ve consistently enjoyed ~ give it a chance if you enjoy books and some ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Automations with Chelle Honiker
Q: When you talk about author automation, what does that actually mean for someone who hasn't dived into it much?
It means using no-code and low-code tools to connect email, social media, analytics, and publishing tasks so they talk to each other automatically, freeing you to write while keeping marketing and admin consistent.
All the Authorly Things with David Gaughran
Q: Why should authors invest in a newsletter rather than chasing every new marketing trend?
Because a newsletter is owned by the author, not rented on social media; it provides direct access to readers, more reliable engagement, and the ability to scale launches over time, whereas social platforms can change algorithms or disappear.
All the Authorly Things with David Gaughran
Q: What are David's three top priorities for a new indie author?
Focus on having a strong product (a publishable book), a coherent positioning in a defined genre, and a solid platform that includes a growing newsletter and a professional author website to convert readers into fans and customers.
The Psychology of a Psychological Thriller with Robyn Harding
Q: What is your author's superpower?
Post-it notes and always having ideas; the ability to generate and organize ideas keeps the writing process alive, even when juggling multiple projects.
The Psychology of a Psychological Thriller with Robyn Harding
Q: What is the hardest part of writing a psychological thriller?
The hardest part is satisfying sophisticated readers who expect twists that are earned and make sense within the story's logic; you must balance a compelling, grounded plot with satisfying, credible twists.
