  • Okay Interviews_Not Okay Opinionating

Appreciate having another nordic ski podcast—particularly at the NCAA and RMISA level. Ryan is obviously an informed guy with good questions. It’s unfortunate, therefore, that someone whose livelihood and interests depend upon reliable snow cover and genuine winter conditions infers on his podcast that global climate change isn’t real or effecting climate, snowfall, and temperatures in a way that endangers the sport. I suggest that Ryan invite Jessie Diggins and Gus Schumaker onto his pod to tal... more

  • Love the show!

The intros and outros are too long, but all the stuff in the middle is great. Like the opinions and takes. Glad I don’t have to scour the web for the info that’s provided. Keep it up, from another guy from Minnesota.

National Nordic Foundation Western REG Camp interviews! Episode 4: James Sowers
Q: What was the hardest part of the gap year, and what surprised you the most?
The hardest part was adjusting to independence and managing finances while training; the most surprising part was time management and how it reshaped my daily routine and priorities.
National Nordic Foundation Western REG Camp interviews! Episode 4: James Sowers
Q: How did you end up at Colby, and what stood out about their program?
I reached out to several schools, but Colby, through Tracy, offered a clear path and an early spot; their facilities and location made the program seem like the best fit for my development.
National Nordic Foundation Western REG Camp interviews! Episode 4: James Sowers
Q: Where did your path diverge after high school, and what led you to take a gap year instead of heading directly to college?
I didn't get a spot on an NCAA D1 team right away, so I chose a gap year to train with a top program, learn, and keep options open; this broader exposure ultimately helped me discoverColby College as a fit.
National Nordic Foundation Western REG Camp interviews! Episode 1: Odin Berryman
Q: What was the main takeaway from racing in Scandinavia from a skiing standpoint?
The travel and exposure to international competition reshaped the way I think about pacing and strategy; the experiences abroad taught me to manage fatigue and to appreciate how technique and race tactique differ, which has influenced how I train back home.
National Nordic Foundation Western REG Camp interviews! Episode 1: Odin Berryman
Q: Take me into that trip. How many races did you do and what did the trip look like?
The trip included three races in Trondheim, Norway, followed by three races in Umeå, Sweden, with senior athletes joining the group to share experience and routines; it was a transformative mix of racing, travel, and cultural exposure that broadened our understanding of competition internationally.
