I love this podcast because it’s a great way to learn more about not only existing National Parks and monuments, but proposed ones. And it’s not slow or dry. Just the right length and super interesting.

Parks and the Art of Paying Attention
Q: What do you recommend for folks who are looking to reconnect and be attentive and mindful?
One key is to sit down and take the time to really notice your surroundings; when I walk, I often don't notice as many things.
Parks and the Art of Paying Attention
Q: Did you feel like you had that same attentiveness on your fifth hike?
I tried to see both the familiar and the slight differences, and I did pay more attention to sounds for obvious reasons.
Parks and the Art of Paying Attention
Q: What were your next steps in planning your times outdoors?
I had to figure out specific details like choosing the location and understanding wilderness camping regulations.
On the Road Again... and Again
Q: What was your biggest impression about the sheer scale and scope of the diversity of what we have protected in these now 63 national parks?
Seeing them back to back like that in a year made the diversity of scenery hit home. I experienced everything from flowing lava at Hawaii Volcanoes to glaciers in Alaska, and Death Valley to the highest peak at Denali.
On the Road Again... and Again
Q: Could you have imagined when you visited Bryce Canyon in '95 that you would be embarking on this journey 20 years later?
Certainly not. I don't think I would have even known what comprised that list of parks.
