  • Disappointing

The point of this podcast is to take classic Hollywood films and compare them to today’s imperfect sensibilities. This translates to every movie being sexist and racist. Pretty dull.

  • This….is a podcast

Two people with zero experience or authority on film got bored and started a podcast. They have no use for OSCAR choices, so they chose to focus on nominated films.

One of them had never seen CITIZEN KANE before- that’s how little they have experienced classic movies.

If they hate musicals, or other genres - DON’T WATCH THEM! How could such a biased review be useful.

These people have mostly bad things to say about some of the best movies ever, but - hey, they loved MAGIC MIKE.

  • Not as good as it could be

The hosts have great rapport with each other and can be very funny. I wish they did even a basic level of looking things up on Wikipedia though. They’re not that knowledgeable about film history and it shows again and again. Lastly, the profanity is intense even for me and I have a mouth like a sailor.

  • Love this podcast!

I listen to several podcasts about movies, and I tend to gravitate toward those podcasts that deconstruct, and analyze, all the aspects of any given film. I am, apparently, a movie nerd. I am not sure how I missed this one, because Suzan and David are funny and astute and willing to speak truth to classics! I applaud them foe slogging through horrible movies. We all know the Academy has nominated movies for, and awarded the Oscar to, some very badly made films. Those episodes are hilarious! Yet,... more

  • If you want to listen to two terribly negative people who appear to loathe classic films, you may enjoy this. But when I heard them say that Montgomery Clift is a terrible actor, I can't take them seriously. They didn't even give a reason why they feel this way. They also bashed Bette Davis in the same podcast, so I assume they simply don't recognize good acting. There are plenty of great podcasts about old movies out there, so I'm going to enjoy those and delete this one.

  • Funny, Engaging, and Educational!

I’m not much of a movie buff, but it’s still fun listening to SToT. It’s wonderful to listen to David and Suzan every week; they have an easy rapport, and it’s obvious they’re both having a lot of fun. Even when the movie is abysmal (or even abominable...), it’s still great to laugh (and learn) on this enjoyable tour through cinema history.

    10/10, would recommend!

  • Excellent, informative podcast

This is a wonderful podcast that will leave film enthusiasts cackling with laughter. It is hard to reject the biting wit of David Daw and Suzan Eraslan has such an impressive knowledge of classic cinema that one can’t help but be astonished by the conviction with which she speaks. I would recommend that you listen to their episode on The Divorcee, they discuss Norma Shearer’s hotness in detail and I’m always here for that. I hope they keep up the great work.

  • Never trust a great movie poster.

Screen Test of Time is funny, smart and engaging. Going through early Hollywood's best picture nominees with David and Suzan has been a highlight of my weekly podcast listening since I found them, and I'm looking forward to what's to come as they eventually move into the modern day. The hosts' conversations are a lot of fun to listen in on, even without having seen many of the films they've made it through thus far, and there's something so charming in their approach; I find them particularly fu... more
