  • No food for thought

The Crier and BOC embody the id and ego of Friartown. I always look forward to the show. Really enjoy the guests you bring on to discuss the team. . . BUT . . . Could you please ask them to eat before or after you record the pod? Listening to Curry Hicks Sage digest a meal was an asmr hellscape. Keep up the good work, fellas.

  • Better than ever

First, you can’t get better Providence analysis than what you hear on the Friar. Adding BD was a master stroke as it gives the Podcast some depth.

  • Finally a Friars Pod!

I’ve been waiting years for a quality podcast about PCBB. Mike’s had a great blog (when I’ve had a chance to read it) and seems to have the inside scoop on what’s going on at the Dunk and with Ed and the boys. 2019-2020 is the most promising team we’ve had in years so I’m pumped to have a pod to follow along with! Thanks, Crier!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Season 7 Episode 53: Basket Under Review's Matthew Winick
Q: Do you think Malik Mack can be the guard that leads the offense in Hodgson's system?
Yes, Mack's skill set fits a modern offense with two feet in the paint and improved spacing, which could unlock him as a big-time contributor.
Season 7 Episode 53: Basket Under Review's Matthew Winick
Q: Who is the player in Providence's transfer class that should get more love but isn't talked about much?
Banerby (Jacob Banerby) is highlighted as a versatile big man who brings rebounding, passing, and defense, with potential to impact beyond scoring.
Season 7 Episode 53: Basket Under Review's Matthew Winick
Q: Why is Providence ranked highly in your portal class compared to peers like High Point?
He clarifies the ranking is relative to conference level and roster composition; Providence's overall balance, fit, and the completeness of the eight added players justify the high evaluation.
Season 7 Episode 53: Basket Under Review's Matthew Winick
Q: First off, how long did this transfer portal preview take you to put together?
Winick explains it takes months of constant updating, with an iterative process of compiling, alphabetizing, and refining the rankings as classes and commitments develop.
Season 7 Episode XLVII: PC HOFer John Linehan
Q: So before we get into your PC days, let's start with your high school career. You had a legendary high school career with Chester High School, had some battles with Kobe Bryant, the Philly hoop scene there was kind of insane when you were coming up. So how did you end up at PC?
I came from a rich Philadelphia basketball culture, had to go to prep school at Winchendon, and PC noticed me after I showed well there. Kobe and other greats inspired me, and I continued to develop defensively; PC recruited me late but ultimately valued my defense and competitiveness, which helped me earn a spot and then a chance to contribute early in my career.
