  • Excellent podcast with a genuine host

Alex is such a great host who has meaningful conversations with guests on a wide range of topics. It amazes me how much he reads, whether biblical studies and theology, economics, history, and more—and because of that he’s able to talk with lots of people from different disciplines and areas of expertise. With a name like “Protestant Libertarian Podcast,” you can guess where he’s coming from on certain topics, but he’s a gracious host and willing to listen well to people with whom he disagrees. ... more

  • My favorite podcast!

Alex does a great job of explaining how libertarianism as a political philosophy is compatible with Christianity. Insightful analyses and critique of biblical studies, economics, and libertarian writings that are easy to listen too and understand. History, current events, and meaningful interviews. If you’re a Christian, libertarian, both or neither, you will learn from this podcast. Give it a listen!

  • One of the best libertarian podcasts out there

So many libertarian podcasts out there, and many are good. But Alex does a superb job keeping it simple while also taking the ideas of liberty beyond the barebones basics.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 221: Why I Am Protestant with Beth Felker Jones
Q: How does the New Perspective on Paul influence traditional Protestant doctrines like justification by faith?
Jones acknowledges the nuanced shifts brought by New Perspective scholars but maintains a traditional commitment to justification by grace, viewing changes as deepening rather than dismantling core Protestant convictions.
Ep 221: Why I Am Protestant with Beth Felker Jones
Q: How should Protestants think about unity and fragmentation within the church?
She argues for reconciliation and real unity through mission and shared faith, avoiding coercive or overly centralized control, and emphasizes ecumenical engagement and charity across traditions.
Ep 221: Why I Am Protestant with Beth Felker Jones
Q: What does it mean to call yourself Protestant in light of Catholic and Orthodox traditions?
Jones explains that being Protestant centers on Sola Scriptura, orthodoxy in truth as revealed in Scripture, and a reforming impulse that seeks to renew the church in faithful mission, while still affirming the broader unity of the church.
Ep 223: The Social Consequences of Inflation with Jeff Degner
Q: Why should Christians care about inflation and monetary policy?
Because biblical principles condemn debt slavery and unequal weights in commerce; inflation undermines justice, magnifies inequality, and threatens church funding and family stability, prompting a call to rethink money and banking from a Christian perspective.
Ep 223: The Social Consequences of Inflation with Jeff Degner
Q: What is the Cantillon effect and why does it matter to ordinary people?
The Cantillon effect describes how those who receive new money first benefit, while those later in the chain face higher prices and less benefit, effectively widening inequality under fiat money.
