A lovely, in-depth film review podcast by people who care about the medium. Needs some Miyazaki and Tenenbaums though.
Can you be more consistent with your releases. Supposed to be weekly but often is not. Sometimes waiting two/three weeks for an episode.
Analysis is very good, both presenters are share good depth of knowledge on many elements of movie composition, cinematography, scores casts, directors etc. Not a popcorn movie review show more in depth and technical reviews.
Would give five stars but for inconsistent release of episodes.
The podcast focus on one film for around 30 minutes, which is perfect for the daily commute. The guys go into a lot of depth on the film they’re covering each week, and it’s interesting to hear their view and theories on the subtext to the films.
Unlike some other film podcast the guys aren’t getting over-excited every 5 minutes and trying to “out-bants” each other. It’s also ad-free, so no annoying interruptions while you’re listening!
So, in summary, it’s well worth subscribing and listenin... more
What started out as a tricky listen soon became a really enjoyable podcast for me. Coming from listening to other film podcasts it was a different experience. Sam and Rob really delve deep into the films that are discussed, choosing a different film each week and discussing the themes of the film and recommending further related viewing. I recommend this podcast

If the tone isn't interesting, neither are the actual insights! Saying someone's acting was "good" without any qualification isn't opening up new doors in my understanding, appreciation or enjoyment of the films reviewed. The cri... more
