This was a good episode but I would like to add that although responsible for her actions, a physical reaction-a trigger and adrenal response is REAL !

The gut wrenching heartache that wells up after continually tolerating bad behavior can be overwhelming. This is intentional (usually) on the oppressors part. They turn around and smirk at you and tell you, “See, you are the problem. You are out of control and abusive.”

It is a tactic and then they feel justified to blame you.

  • A survivor’s standpoint

This podcast has been doctrinally sound and trauma informed. As a survivor of coercive control from a “Christian spouse” there were very few resources as I navigated my healing. Finding the works of Chris Moles and this podcast who bridges faith and trauma informed care has been a balm to my soul and so educational. Thank you for the work you do!

  • Thank you Chris, I appreciate your podcast

I’ve recently been shocked into awareness of the reality of abuse that’s not just physical. It’s disorienting and destructive almost beyond belief. And family (Christians) don’t believe me. They are shaming me by calling me unforgiving and bitter when I try to explain what’s happened. As I’m trying to recover, most resources that understand and describe my situation are secular. I’m very thankful for these, but to hear the voice of someone who loves God speaking about this feels so healing. Than... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode #431 How do I GET my husband to understand?
Q: What should I do in the meantime if I can't get him to acknowledge his behavior?
Focus on your own safety and support network, seek help for yourself, and consider involving counselors or pastors who can guide the process. Resources like The Path to Peace and Men of Peace can be introduced by a professional involved in the intervention as part of a broader plan.
Episode #431 How do I GET my husband to understand?
Q: How can I get him to admit what he's actually doing instead of just making excuses about his temper?
There is no guaranteed method to force admission; it depends on his readiness. You can invite self-reflection, use piercing questions, and involve trained professionals to provide structure and accountability, while recognizing your own need for safety and support.
Episode #431 How do I GET my husband to understand?
Q: How do I get my husband to consume your resources that expose his behavior without him seeing it as a personal attack?
Resources are often not the first step; focus on relational contact, counseling, and intervention with proper boundaries, and use resources as part of a broader plan rather than the initial move. Readiness on the part of the partner is essential for any impact, and a counselor or pastor can help frame the conversation so it's less accusatory and more constructive.
Episode #430 Will he finally understand?
Q: How can I communicate my pain so that he understands?
The speaker argues there is no proven method or sequence that guarantees understanding; focus should be on self-reflection, patience, and inviting responsibility rather than trying to control your partner's response.
Episode #420 On "Winning Without A Word"
Q: If safety is considered a worldly solution, how can sanctification and safety coexist in the life of a believer facing abuse?
Sanctification and safety are not mutually exclusive; suffering can be a path to Christ-like conformity, but believers can grow in the Lord while pursuing safety, establishing boundaries, and seeking support from church leadership to resist abuse and protect others.
