“The clean nuclear power argument from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Department of Energy, is nonsense,” says Stanford University Climate Expert Dr. Mark Jacobsen. Why are the federal and state officials wasting over $8 billion in taxpayer funds for the first ever restart of a dangerous nuclear reactor in Michigan; sold for scrap by its previous owner?”

The lure of the highly tax-dollar-profitable yet technically foolish project remains ever with us. The industry-captured Nuclear Regulatory Agency acts like they are promoting a decades long psuedo-Manhattan Project when they’re mostly just cutting expenses for large companies, either investor owned or public utilities. A great regional podcast about a dangerous experiment with public health and safety spurred on by unknowledgeable politicians & a craven corporation.
The reporter continuously interrupts the interviewee’s answers, despite the interviewee giving good answers and some detail. It’s a bit disingenuous, and actually tends to show the reporter does not really have a good comprehension of the nuclear process. He tends to answer on behalf of the interviewee. If he knows the answers already then just write an essay…. Not a good example of journalism.
