  • Used to be a good show

I listened to this daily but can’t take it anymore. Why the producers thought hiring outside the tech industry for the hosts beats me. They may have a voice for the nightly news but not for tech podcasts.

  • Great daily recap

The daily security news is great. Some of the hosts need to work on their awkward/incorrect pronunciations of words, acronyms and initialisms however. Hearing them read incorrectly gets grating over time.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Department of Know: NVD audit, Meta's leaky AI, Microsoft is closer to quantum
Q: How do you see the role of guardian agents changing the security landscape in the next few years?
Guardian agents will shift left into SDLC, enabling detection and automated remediation through orchestrated AI agents, reducing outages and requiring governance to keep actions transparent and controllable.
The Department of Know: NVD audit, Meta's leaky AI, Microsoft is closer to quantum
Q: What is your take on the 1-hour notice window for vulnerability disclosures and how it affects security teams?
Disclosures with such short notice create a high workload spike and may increase false positives; organizations need better coordination and realistic timelines, plus more emphasis on practical remediation and prioritization.
Department of Know: SaaS apps enable breaches, real-time cyber protection, IoT botnet takedown
Q: How should CISOs contextualize threat intelligence when presented with conflicting signals from different sources?
Treat raw data and finished intelligence as complementary: assess organizational impact, map threats to critical assets, and tailor response plans to your industry and risk profile rather than chasing one-size-fits-all guidance.
Department of Know: SaaS apps enable breaches, real-time cyber protection, IoT botnet takedown
Q: What is your takeaway from the SaaS breach report and how should security teams respond today?
The takeaway is to strengthen the basics—secure the stack at its core, audit SaaS usage, and move beyond chasing fancy AI features to ensuring token protection and proper access controls, including adopting passkeys where possible.
Department of Know: OpenAI vulnerability scanner, US new cyber strategy, VPN SEO poisoning
Q: How should organizations respond to SEO poisoning and fake VPN software?
Take a practical, human-centric approach: encourage employees to verify software via IT, use secure gateways, and rely on IT support rather than self-service searches for sensitive tools.
