  • Great help!

Really enjoyed the top ten interviewer and seeing a little more of the personal side of Dave. How about adding quarterly and yearly top tens.

Please do more of the CyberWire-X episodes. It is good to hear about an exploit, but it is great for us cyber professional to get all the details, so we can understand if we could prevent the exploit. Thanks,

    Tom

  • 30 Minute Advertisement

There’s an add then about 5 minutes of content where the host reads headlines without really talking about the story. And then a sponsored interview that takes up most of the episode and some more adds.

No value to the listener. Just a lot of being advertised to.

  • Great Content

I like the content (and the music mixing) but the host has one of the most AI-generated-sounding voices and enunciation that I have ever heard. It’s not unpleasant, though.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The current state of GPS following OCX with Dr. Sean Gorman, CEO of Zephr.xyz. [T-Minus: Space-Cyber Briefing]
Q: So OCX was the next generation ground station that connects to the satellites up in space. So we can think of the GPS satellites, you know, the 32 of them revolving around the Earth. But you need to get the data from those satellites... So OCX was this next generation ground system that they spent $6 or $7 billion on to replace the 1990s AEP system with a much more robust, sophisticated set of ground stations to track these satellites up in space. But it got canceled? Is that my understanding? What happened there?
The guest explains that upgrading such a massive, monolithic system in one go was impractical since billions of devices rely on it; the project was canceled and there was a shift to working with the existing AEP system while seeking more incremental modernization rather than a full replacement.
The current state of GPS following OCX with Dr. Sean Gorman, CEO of Zephr.xyz. [T-Minus: Space-Cyber Briefing]
Q: Maybe we just start real simple right there before we dive in much deeper on what exactly, when we're talking about GPS jamming and spoofing, there are lots of different things that can happen there.
The guest explains that there isn't just one GPS system; GPS is part of a larger GNSS ecosystem with multiple constellations, and jamming/spoofing involve disrupting or falsifying signals at various points in the chain, from satellites to receivers, with terrestrial actors often responsible for these disruptions.
Breaking the GlassWorm.
Q: What is driving the bipartisan push for more CISA funding?
Lawmakers from both parties stress the need to restore staffing and improve information sharing to protect critical infrastructure amid a challenging threat landscape and past budget cuts.
The Code of Honor: Paul J. Maurer and Ed Skoudis explore ethics in cybersecurity with Ben Yelin. [Special Edition]
Q: What message were you trying to convey with The Code of Honor, Embracing Ethics in Cybersecurity?
The authors explain there was a gap in how cybersecurity ethics was taught, and they aimed to create a universal, human-centered framework that transcends laws to guide decision-making in real-world scenarios, including gray-area vulnerabilities and rapid tech changes.
Too many cooks in the algorithm.
Q: Can you share with us how this tool was developed?
The team focused on how AI-generated code introduces new dependency patterns and built an approach where the AI analyzes how a vulnerability is used in a repo, proposes a fix, and opens a draft PR for human review, ensuring humans stay in the loop.
