Reviews

4.8 out of 5 stars from 1.9k ratings
  • 30 Minute Advertisement

There’s an add then about 5 minutes of content where the host reads headlines without really talking about the story. And then a sponsored interview that takes up most of the episode and some more adds.

No value to the listener. Just a lot of being advertised to.

  • Great Content

I like the content (and the music mixing) but the host has one of the most AI-generated-sounding voices and enunciation that I have ever heard. It’s not unpleasant, though.

  • The best podcast for the latest news,.

For the one complaining about a "brick wall of ads", there's 1 in the beginning, 1 in the middle, 1 at the end. If that's to many then consider paying for the subscription instead of complaining about a free podcast

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The internet joins the war.
Q: Well, what did that moment feel like inside the organization when AI started showing up in security workflows?
There was a mix of excitement and skepticism, but the core takeaway was that trust, curiosity, and collaboration are essential for AI to be effective in security.
The scareware rabbit hole. [Research Saturday]
Q: What surprised you about using free tools for this research?
Free tools like Censys, VirusTotal, and URLScan can provide substantial visibility when used together, allowing analysts to corroborate indicators, verify domains and IPs, and assess the legitimacy of developers and apps without needing expensive replacements.
The scareware rabbit hole. [Research Saturday]
Q: How should defenders map attacker behavior beyond just stopping the initial infection?
Defenders can use frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK to map initial access, persistence, and exfiltration, then align security tooling (EDR, detection rules) and testing (red/blue team exercises) to those tactics, while also focusing on security awareness and incident response planning.
From Tehran to the Apple II.
Q: How do entry-level roles change with AI, and is there displacement?
AI reshapes the entry-level landscape rather than eliminating roles; positions adapt by focusing on using AI effectively, with entry-level workers being more AI-native and capable of leveraging the tech to reach decisions faster, while non-technical skills become important differentiators.
From Tehran to the Apple II.
Q: What were some of the findings that caught your eye from the ISC2 Workforce Study?
The study shows AI as a top in-demand technical skill, with a notable shift from two years ago when it was less prominent, and it also emphasizes non-technical skills like problem-solving, communication, and collaboration as critical differentiators.
