Used to be a good show, but it’s gotten to where half the show is Alex doom-whinging every week about the same thing — ugh

  • Good show! Too many live eps lately!!

Love the show!! One request - maybe release the live shows as a couple episodes vs individuals over a few weeks. It’s getting frustrating thinking I’m clicking on a normal episode and it ends up being another live one!

  • Fantastic Podcast With the Exception of…

Alex is incredibly sagacious and well-rounded and delivers exceptional interviews with seamless continuity that keeps you wanting more. My biggest qualm is I wish he would not bring on Ranjan Roy so much. I think that guy has a myopic, aristocratic view on AI. He is a meretricious expert with experience only in academia, void of a real world occupations. It would be nice to replace him with a regular who has a more dynamic background.

  • Great Show, Good Vibes

Consistently great show on tech, especially AI. Alex is dialed in and gets some prime interviews, like Greg Brockman (excellent convo). Mondays with Ranjan are a must watch/listen. Alex does ask people hard questions, he just isn’t a jerk about it. Highly recommend if you’re in the tech world.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Leopold Blows Up, OpenAI Drastically Cuts Prices, Microsoft’s Best Day
Q: Do you think OpenAI's price cuts signal a sustainable demand shift or a strategic desperation to grab market share?
Likely a mix: price cuts can expand demand and build lock-in, but they also press on margins; the longer-term assumption is that demand for compute persists, supported by bottlenecks and the need for scalable AI infrastructure.
Leopold Blows Up, OpenAI Drastically Cuts Prices, Microsoft’s Best Day
Q: What drew you to cover Leopold's fund and its recent implosion?
The rapid swing from multi-billion-dollar AUM to selling off positions highlighted a cultural and strategic divide in tech investing, plus it provided a lens on risk, leverage, and the quantum of influence AI bets have on real-world markets.
AI Pioneer Jürgen Schmidhuber: AI Already Feels Pain, Loves, and Is Self-Aware
Q: Would you upload your brain and merge with AI, or remain with your biological self?
The guest expresses that this is not a current personal goal and emphasizes that expanded minds may dominate decision-making, making nostalgia or decline for unchanged humans a risky strategy in a future AI-driven landscape.
SpaceX’s IPO Triumph, Anthropic’s Fable Fumble, OpenAI’s Price War
Q: Is the SpaceX IPO good for society and business?
The hosts generally view the IPO as beneficial for market innovation and for retail investors to participate in high-growth bets, though with caveats about valuation parity and long-term sustainability, and the potential to boost infrastructure and data-center ecosystems.
What Should An AI Device Look Like? — With Alex Himel
Q: Will the AI glasses replace phones eventually?
The ambition is more nuanced; phones won't disappear but wearables should become ubiquitously used, handling many tasks today done on phones and expanding into areas you don't currently use phones for.
