  • Marion gets trampled

I really wanted to listen to their opinion on Amazon QX for TV but this show really is about Evan making all of his points and then when those are not accepted, they just need to be restated like they are the number one imperative of the show

  • Let her finish

Evan’s smart & perceptive, but he often interrupts Marion when she’s speaking. This is a new show, so they’re still figuring out their rhythm, but this happens every episode, usually multiple times. Marion knows her stuff just as well as Evan, and he needs to stop cutting her off.

I follow Evan in his substack so I am sure this will be an excellent podcast, and I know Marion will be great also. Looking forward to first broadcast on Jan 2.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

REGIFTED: FRONTLINE PUTS PBS ON YOUTUBE
Q: Marion, when you saw the news come down about what's happening with the BBC and the conflict they're having with the American president, what ran through your mind?
I was struck by concern that public television must maintain diversity, pluralism, and integrity even under political pressure, and that missteps can have long-term consequences for public trust.
THE NEW PRODUCTION PLAYBOOK
Q: What is the business model behind Steven and Parker, and how is it monetized beyond YouTube?
The show starts digital-first on YouTube with ads and brand sponsorships, then expands through a flywheel to off-platform revenue like a graphic novel series with Random House/HarperCollins, and ultimately streamers, merchandise, and other IP extensions.
THE SUBSCRIPTION GAP
Q: What would you say is the one big a‑ha moment for the audience to take away from this study?
The most impactful takeaway is that 40% of subscriptions are already bought through indirect channels, signaling a fundamental shift in how consumers prefer to bundle and pay for services, which opens a significant opportunity for bundling platforms and indirect channel partnerships.
THE SUBSCRIPTION GAP
Q: Let's dig into this report. What was the thing that most stood out to you about this study that Bango did?
Giles highlighted the acceleration of third‑party bundling, the shift toward savvy subscribers optimizing around best deals, and the looming pressure on telcos to either bundle or be bundled, with indirect channels already accounting for a sizable portion of subscriptions.
STREAM TV EUROPE UNPLUGGED
Q: First of all, tell us quickly for the audience out there, what is V?
V is a Smart TV platform with an OS that spans devices worldwide; they've developed a measurement concept (V Index) to unify TV measurement by combining traditional broadcast metrics with digital impressions to better reflect what people actually watch and how content is monetized.
