  • Learning

I generally really like this podcast because while the topics can be very information intensive but not too much is covered each time and if I want to tell learn more, he does a good job of pointing out additional episodes that may be helpful

  • A line that really stuck with me…

Great show Peter! On the last show you made a point that really hit home for me. When talking about behavior, you said, “people don’t fear volatility, they fear the narrative”. This is 100 percent true! A salient point that reminds us to be wary of financial media. Fantastic insight!

  • Perfect Balance between Education, Understanding, and Implementation

Peter does a great job at educating and providing practical guidance on how these items can be implemented in actual life settings. This is a much more difficult task than it sounds, but Peter makes it look easy. He is also attuned to what I want to hear and current topics. Keep up the great work, I always get excited to see when a new podcast or YouTube shows up!

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Behavioral Portfolio with Phillip Toews (EP.257)
Q: talk to me about accurately defining risk. How should investors be doing it? Why is it so important?
Risk should be defined by the probability of not reaching your goals, taking into account real-world contingencies and the specific portfolio designed to address them, rather than solely by price fluctuations or standard deviation.
The Importance of Working With A High-Quality Advisor with Plancorp's Ranie Verby (EP.243)
Q: If listeners are trying to evaluate their own advisor, or maybe they haven't hired advisors in the past but they've interviewed and just decided not to go down that road, what can somebody do to tell the difference between a high quality advisor versus let's just say a warm body?
Look for a fiduciary commitment in writing and ensure that you meet the entire team, not just the rainmaker advisor.
M&A, Valuations, and the Future of RIAs — A Conversation with Ian Wenik (EP.222)
Q: What major shifts are you watching right now in that space?
Wenik discusses concerns about the sustainability of current valuations and the impact of M&A on the entrepreneurial spirit of RIAs.
Lessons on Investing, Market Crises, and the Power of Staying Calm With CNBC's Bob Pisani (EP.208)
Q: Why do you feel like mistakes such as stock picking and market timing persist among investors?
Humans have a natural tendency to want to predict the future, but accurately forecasting market movements proves to be incredibly difficult.
Lessons on Investing, Market Crises, and the Power of Staying Calm With CNBC's Bob Pisani (EP.208)
Q: What do you feel like are some of the most profound changes in how markets function and how investors access them?
There has been a significant shift to electronic trading from open outcry, decimalization, and the introduction of ETFs and passive investing.
