  • Cut the ads!

I’m giving one star because although I like listening to most of the content when I tried to listen to a 20 minute podcast I had to give up after 6 ads! There aren’t that many ads in a podcast that’s an hour long! A radio show shouldn’t need all this advertising on their segments from the show. I didn’t even make it to the end and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more. Very disappointing Today FM!

  • Update podcasts faster

I like the content but the segments are either updated irregularly or not at all. I often miss them live but try to catch them later on the pod and a lot of the time they’re just not there

  • Great show and host

I really enjoy the segments especially the weekly one with Cal and Marion. It would be great if all the content was uploaded as podcasts as it seems to be hit and miss on what gets shared.

Latest In Travel & Adventure Tech
Q: What travel router would you recommend for a family staying in hotels with limited Wi‑Fi?
I'd point to a compact travel router with a built‑in VPN, like the Glinet Beryl, which creates your own private Wi‑Fi network in hotel rooms and secures data while allowing multiple devices to connect at once, effectively simplifying family travel connectivity.
What Does The Future Hold For RTE?
Q: Given RTÉ's historical dominance, do you think the public's reliance on it will continue, or will streaming and competition erode its relevance?
Public reliance has already shifted, and the future of RTÉ hinges on its ability to offer distinctive value in a streaming-driven landscape. It must be smaller, more cost-efficient, and strategically focused to stay relevant while competing with international platforms.
What Does The Future Hold For RTE?
Q: What is your assessment of Kevin Backhurst's reforms and approach to modernizing RTÉ amid funding challenges?
Backhurst has taken bold steps, especially around governance, but the changes are still unfolding. The long-term impact will depend on robust implementation and independent oversight, ensuring the broadcaster can adapt to new media realities while remaining accountable to taxpayers.
What Does The Future Hold For RTE?
Q: You discuss the 'bogus self-employed' issue and broader staff treatment. How do you think those matters shaped RTÉ's crisis of confidence?
The treatment of staff and the financial irregularities created a trust vacuum that powered the crisis. It's not just about one scandal but about a pattern of governance failures, which the organization must address comprehensively to rebuild credibility.
What Does The Future Hold For RTE?
Q: Your book covers Dee Forbes and the broader governance issues at RTÉ. What is your take on her role and the testimonies given to committees?
I don't see Forbes as the sole villain; she becomes a focal point in a broader, entrenched culture of non-communication. Her absence from the public narrative complicates fault lines, and I think a fair appraisal requires looking at the wider system and not just one individual.
