  • Pat the Great

I haven’t lived in Ireland for year so depend on Pat for authentic news and reviews, he is an island of truth in an ocean of misinformation, can’t wait for his weekend gig in March

  • Mid-sentence ads

The content of the podcasts is usually good but the frequency and placement of the ads makes them unbearable to listen to. A podcast might only be 5 or 6 minutes long but still have multiple ads, some of which are cut in to interrupt in the middle of a sentence. It displays a complete last of respect for the listener.

  • Blatantly Biased

Pat cannot hide his Trump derangement syndrome. 99.9% of his contributors on United States affairs are liberals. Whenever he (almost never) has a conservative on, they tend to be the least able to articulate their counter arguments. He couldn’t hold his own against a real conservative. Seems there are no conservatives in Europe. They’re ALL labeled far-right extremists.

His panels invariably consist of three liberals and no conservatives

    Zero balance.

  • Pat Is a Radio Legend

Pat brings sharp analysis. Henry McKean does not. Henry needs to find a new career path as he is not a reporter. He’s more of a detraction than an addition and damages the PK brand.

  • Ads nightmare

I really enjoy this show but the podcast segments are a disaster!! Recently, ads are thrown in - usually in the middle of a conversation (sometimes even a sentence). It’s so off putting. To make it worse the sound of the ads is far louder than the actual episode. Surely this can be sorted. It’s bad enough having to listen to the long ads at the start of each episode.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Political Week in Review with Kevin Doyle
Q: So what does it mean for the government and where does it leave Taoiseach, Micheál and Martin?
Doyle explains the Kinahan case reframes Ireland's international crime stance, notes the likelihood of a special criminal court for high-profile charges, and suggests leadership considerations—while acknowledging ongoing by-elections, anniversaries, and European Presidency as factors that reduce immediate calls for change.
Veil of Silence: How the Irish State Covered Up an IRA Murder & Framed a Garda Whistleblower
Q: Will you tell us first of all about John Corcoran, how you came across him and what sort of a man he was?
Corcoran was an IRA member who was cooperating with Garda Special Branch; over multiple encounters he provided information that helped prevent certain IRA activities, but his status as an informant later became a liability as authorities weighed the risk to informants against pursuing the case, ultimately leading to a lack of decisive action and his murder.
Luke O’Neill with some promising advances in treating pancreatic & ovarian cancer
Q: How quickly would it become available given this was a phase three trial?
Because it passed phase three with a strong signal, there is pressure to fast-track approval, and developers expect it could be available within months in some markets, though regulatory timelines can vary.
Hungarian elections hang in the balance: What can we expect?
Q: What do you think is the appeal in so many countries for this authoritarian approach?
There are deep economic and social changes that destabilize traditional parties and identities, creating longing for strong leadership that promises to restore order, identity, and a sense of control over rapid social shifts.
A new book argues Roy Keane helped shape modern Ireland itself
Q: Now, let's talk about your title, first of all, and that word, the Keaneification of Modern Ireland. What do you mean by that?
Hannigan explains that Keane became a national obsession and a catalyst for national conversations for almost four decades, influencing how people think about sports, identity, and cultural change in Ireland.
