  • Pat the Great

I haven’t lived in Ireland for year so depend on Pat for authentic news and reviews, he is an island of truth in an ocean of misinformation, can’t wait for his weekend gig in March

  • Mid-sentence ads

The content of the podcasts is usually good but the frequency and placement of the ads makes them unbearable to listen to. A podcast might only be 5 or 6 minutes long but still have multiple ads, some of which are cut in to interrupt in the middle of a sentence. It displays a complete last of respect for the listener.

  • Blatantly Biased

Pat cannot hide his Trump derangement syndrome. 99.9% of his contributors on United States affairs are liberals. Whenever he (almost never) has a conservative on, they tend to be the least able to articulate their counter arguments. He couldn’t hold his own against a real conservative. Seems there are no conservatives in Europe. They’re ALL labeled far-right extremists.

His panels invariably consist of three liberals and no conservatives

    Zero balance.

  • Pat Is a Radio Legend

Pat brings sharp analysis. Henry McKean does not. Henry needs to find a new career path as he is not a reporter. He’s more of a detraction than an addition and damages the PK brand.

  • Ads nightmare

I really enjoy this show but the podcast segments are a disaster!! Recently, ads are thrown in - usually in the middle of a conversation (sometimes even a sentence). It’s so off putting. To make it worse the sound of the ads is far louder than the actual episode. Surely this can be sorted. It’s bad enough having to listen to the long ads at the start of each episode.

US-Iran ceasefire in limbo: What happens next?
Q: First of all, is the MOU, the Memorandum of Understanding, dead or on life support?
Professor Lucas explains that the MOU is effectively in limbo because neither side has a clear path to a return to prior conditions, given limited military options and the strategic choke point of the Strait of Hormuz.
Author Jane Casey on ‘Everything She Didn’t Say’
Q: Did writing about your native Ireland put extra pressure on you or affect how you portrayed the Gardaí and setting?
Jane acknowledges intense pressure to be true to life and to avoid misrepresentation, stressing careful authenticity in depicting the Garda Síochána and the local culture.
Author Jane Casey on ‘Everything She Didn’t Say’
Q: When did this book form in your imagination, the latest book, Everything She Didn't Say?
Pat asks about the origin of the idea; Jane explains it started forming during the pandemic, inspired by a longing to write about Mayo and the landscape she loves, with gestation spanning a long period until the right moment to write.
Irish Gardaí on peacekeeping duty in Cyprus
Q: What is the core focus of the Gardaí's work in the buffer zone?
The focus is to maintain public order, ensure access into the buffer zone, and engage with local communities to support peaceful coexistence and the eventual political solution on the island.
Irish Gardaí on peacekeeping duty in Cyprus
Q: How does Garda deployment to Cyprus work in terms of rotations and selection?
Guards are posted for a year through internal competitions, with rotations every year; a group of Gardaí serves in Cyprus while others remain back home, providing ongoing continuity for the mission.
