  • Pat the Great

I haven’t lived in Ireland for year so depend on Pat for authentic news and reviews, he is an island of truth in an ocean of misinformation, can’t wait for his weekend gig in March

  • Mid-sentence ads

The content of the podcasts is usually good but the frequency and placement of the ads makes them unbearable to listen to. A podcast might only be 5 or 6 minutes long but still have multiple ads, some of which are cut in to interrupt in the middle of a sentence. It displays a complete last of respect for the listener.

  • Blatantly Biased

Pat cannot hide his Trump derangement syndrome. 99.9% of his contributors on United States affairs are liberals. Whenever he (almost never) has a conservative on, they tend to be the least able to articulate their counter arguments. He couldn’t hold his own against a real conservative. Seems there are no conservatives in Europe. They’re ALL labeled far-right extremists.

His panels invariably consist of three liberals and no conservatives

    Zero balance.

  • Pat Is a Radio Legend

Pat brings sharp analysis. Henry McKean does not. Henry needs to find a new career path as he is not a reporter. He’s more of a detraction than an addition and damages the PK brand.

  • Ads nightmare

I really enjoy this show but the podcast segments are a disaster!! Recently, ads are thrown in - usually in the middle of a conversation (sometimes even a sentence). It’s so off putting. To make it worse the sound of the ads is far louder than the actual episode. Surely this can be sorted. It’s bad enough having to listen to the long ads at the start of each episode.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ireland’s energy security: How do we move forward?
Q: What should Ireland do in the short to medium term to ensure energy security given these uncertainties?
Keep legacy generation as a last-resort option, bolster storage capacity (e.g., coal stocks at Money Point, even if for a decade more), explore LNG prospects, and accelerate diversified energy sources like offshore wind while addressing policy and state-ownership constraints.
Ireland’s energy security: How do we move forward?
Q: Now, can you set the scene for us in terms of the likely energy shortages over the coming years because of what's happening with the war on Iran?
There is enormous uncertainty about the future and a historical pattern of crises shows that Ireland needs robust, diversified planning; electricity is only part of energy use, and we must account for heating and transport, and the ability to supply all demand even in adverse conditions.
Ali Ansari on how we misunderstand Iran and its people
Q: Can you tell me where you think we are with regard to any kind of peace talks or ceasefire?
Ansari explains that both sides are stuck in an impasse, with neither prepared to concede enough to reach a final deal, and that any agreement is likely to be a gradual, multi-stage process rather than a quick fix.
The Age Code: The New Science of Food and How It Can Save Us
Q: David, good morning and welcome.
Thank you. Thanks so much for having me, Dr. Pat.
Mark Moriarty on his latest TV show, new book, and podcast ‘Roasted’
Q: What inspired the TV show concept and the cookbook alignment?
Moriarty explains the drive to translate high-level cooking into practical techniques for home cooks, emphasizing time-efficient recipes and minimal cleanup, which guided both the TV show format and the forthcoming cookbook.
