  • Excellent

David interviews very interesting guests covering various topics of interest. Short segments; he asks great questions and allows his guest to speak on their area of expertise.

  • RTE Lag Way Behind Newstalk

It’s been a few months since David McCullagh took over from Claire and it’s disappointing so far. McCullagh is a journeyman presenter like many but not good enough to present the flagship show. I have great difficulty believing that RTE are unable to find someone better. The production team are not helping with banal topics. Newstalk continues to lead.

  • Almost as bland as Claire Byrne

David needs to up his game remove his FFG hat and start taking a more balanced approach to his show. He is in grave danger of out blanding the bland previous version of this series!

  • Phillip Boucher-Hayes on “Today”

There can be no doubt that Phillip is the perfect replacement for Claire. His voice and intonation can be both serious and entertaining. Past master of the nuance and inflection. His style and quick wit brooks no bull when interviewing. He has that special quality called radio presence. Reminiscent of Pat Kenny in his glory days.

  • RTE - parroting Israeli lies

I am disgusted how RTE now parrots Israeli propaganda, RTE now complicit in genocide, no doubt RTE are afraid of the litigious Zionist entity but tell the truth and report the facts without saying “Hamas run health department”, is Ireland’s healthcare system the “FG/FF run health system”.

The people are boycotting RTE now more like the BBC who are censoring documentaries showing the horror of genocide in Gaza.

Shame on RTE, more afraid of Israeli litigants than proper reporting.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

New State Savings scheme set to be styled on a Swedish model – how has it worked there?
Q: Tell us a bit about the ISK. How much are Swedish people on average putting into this scheme?
Américo explains that the ISK is hugely popular in Sweden since 2012; exact average contributions are hard to pin down due to no wealth tax, but surveys suggest typical monthly savings around 90 to 100 euros, with people frequently using it as both a savings and investment vehicle.
Life after prison
Q: What role does education and work play in turning lives around?
Education, like the former prisoner's pathway to a criminology degree, and stable work are pivotal for transforming identity and reducing the likelihood of reoffending, especially when combined with supportive services.
Life after prison
Q: Is prison rehabilitation effective, and what should change?
The guest argues that prison is not rehabilitation and is criminogenic, suggesting the system should redirect resources to community supports, education, and mental health services to prevent future crime and better support those leaving custody.
Life after prison
Q: What are the biggest barriers facing former prisoners after release?
Barriers include reconnecting with family, securing housing, obtaining income, and navigating bureaucratic systems that require proof of address or income before accessing support, which can leave people with nothing as they try to rebuild.
How are Americans feeling about the ramping up of war rhetoric?
Q: What are the implications for midterm elections if the conflict continues or escalates?
If the war persists, it could become a catastrophe for the White House and influence GOP dynamics, potentially affecting the trajectory of the next presidential election and Republican nominating conversations.
