  • Great Podcast / Lousy Feed right now

Love the podcast when Wayne is doing interviews (5 STARS) but hate that they have decided to start dumping Big 12 weekly stuff into the feed (1 STAR). Come on! If you are on break, just leave it empty. Hope it restarts soon with real content.

  • Classy edition

Wayne hosts classy conversations that give you an inside look at KU players and staff. His experience on the court adds credibility and he doesn’t waste time with childish old boy nonsense that other similar podcasts do. Appreciate this one.

Q: How did your background with soccer and sports marketing influence your approach to this project and its execution?
My history on the Kansas City side, a long career in sports marketing, and the relationships built with teams and community groups helped align expectations, logistics, and marketing efforts to showcase Lawrence and KU as a premier destination for international teams.
The World Cup is Coming to Lawrence, with Jason Booker
Q: What makes this area appealing beyond the facilities—geography, culture, and the community's willingness to adapt?
Geographic location, proximity to matches, central Midwest hospitality, and a can-do attitude that says yes to tough requests, along with strong support from local partners and the university's resources, made this an attractive base for teams.
The World Cup is Coming to Lawrence, with Jason Booker
Q: What was your mindset like as you went through the process of trying to attract FIFA's attention and prove Kansas City as a legitimate World Cup venue?
We believed it was possible but knew we needed to work harder than most places; the collaboration across Kansas City, Lawrence, and KU's facilities helped demonstrate we could host major events and provide a top-notch base camp.
Kansas Director of Athletics and Vice Chancellor Travis Goff
Q: Your job has gotten so much more complicated, I feel like, at least in what my perception of the job used to be as this world continues to shift and evolve. What are your thoughts?
It's still about people, and KU has an incredible ability to attract great people, which drives our success.
