Not sure what happened on the latest episode, but David stated that The Bride was Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut, based on The Lost Daughter. Sounds like the kind of mishmash of misinformation that sometimes results when Googling things these days. For the record, The Lost Daughter was Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut; The Bride is her second film, based on The Bride of Frankenstein.
The constant insertion of political views ruins what would be an otherwise enjoyable discussion of films. Giant eye roll on the we are living through the 2nd Third Reich. Take a chill pill guys. You are film reviewers not members of some heroic resistance.
Please ignore the reviews whining about your political views. How you view the world shapes how we all engage with art and it’s as important as ever to be yourself and to be honest. It’s honestly staggering to read some of the reviews, akin to when people tell athletes to “just shut and play.” You are insightful, funny, and your sincerity brings indelible richness to the show.

Long time listener and normally love you guys, but your conversation about Marty Supreme was absolutely painful to listen to. It was repetitive and obnoxious and I found a lot of the takes to be in bad faith. As a long time supporter and fan I just felt I needed to share. I’ll be back next week.
Thanks
