  • Very informative and helpful

I have recently discovered this podcast after Laurie was on KCB and started listening. I had tried her earlier episodes under her old podcast name and but it didn’t fit into my young mom life, but this one works well at my current life stage. I have one son who has recently found the joy for reading. So this is helping me find ideas for him to read that encourages and followers our biblical beliefs. I have also enjoyed hearing things that bring light on issues on some books I avoided reading as ... more

  • So Good!

As a mom of girl/boy twins, Laurie’s show has helped me understand why my son is so different from my daughter and what I need to do to be the mom *he* uniquely needs.

Highly recommend to any mom with one little man (or more) running around her home.

  • Short, sweet, and Tangible

I love how this podcast has short episodes that I can easily listen to and actually finish in the same day with three Littles running around! I also love how at the end of each episode I feel like I can immediately apply what I have heard, excited for more!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Action-adventure books for Christian kids: Parable Port series by Brock Eastman and Shaun Stevenson
Q: Why did you design the series around interactive adults and a diverse cast of kids?
We wanted kids to see themselves reflected in the characters and to experience faith as a community effort where adults provide guidance and support, not just as background figures, making faith formation a collaborative, life-applied process.
Action-adventure books for Christian kids: Parable Port series by Brock Eastman and Shaun Stevenson
Q: What is Parable Port about and which parables does it focus on first?
Parable Port imagines a seaside town where Jesus' parables come to life, starting with The Sower's Secret in the first book and later exploring The Wise and Foolish Builders in the second, weaving biblical lessons into a fast-paced, humorous adventure for kids.
First Century Rome Novels for Teens by Shane Eash
Q: What age group is this book appropriate for, and why would it appeal to boys?
The author targets roughly 14 to 16-year-olds, with exciting battle scenes and adventure designed to engage teen readers while presenting themes of courage, faith, and redemption.
First Century Rome Novels for Teens by Shane Eash
Q: Tell us about Maximus and the setting.
Maximus is a young Roman soldier who rises through the ranks, is wounded, and returns home only to find his friend turning to Christianity as Nero persecutes believers; the story follows his moral and spiritual tests during this turbulent time.
Superhero Dog books for 8-10 year old boys – Power Pup by Amanda Trumpower
Q: What should parents be aware of when allowing kids to read these books?
Two cautions are discussed: some thematic material involves criminals and danger, and the TV movie adaptation is grittier than the books; overall, the books are described as clean with potential for strong discussion about discernment.
