  • Negative spin

Download and listen to Wes on Tuesday and delete the rest from Clarke. Wes will provide a neutral data-based assessment while Clarke will put his political negative spin and even say that it is time to pull the family aside as the ‘end is near’ in regard to job or economic reports.

I found Clark years ago on the syndicated radio, and definitely benefited from his advice. Recently found him again on the podcast and listen almost every day. So grateful!

  • Honestly the best financial and consumer advice out there

I’ve been listening to Clark Howard in syndicate and podcast for decades now. It’s an investment of 30 and every time I listen and I always gain some value out of the topics discussed. Even when they’re not relevant to me. Furthermore, Clark just has a very kind demeanor and is a good human. I think him, and all of his fantastic staff, as Team Clark is an awesome one.

ps. Can Wes Moss just have a separate podcast? Good content, but I’m wanting to only hear Clark’s.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

03.31.26 Ask An Advisor With Wes Moss
Q: Should the last three years before retirement be kept in a more aggressive fund to maintain growth?
Shifting to a more conservative allocation early is common; however, keeping a portion in growth can help maintain upside while preserving capital, especially as retirement approaches. Align the allocation with when the funds will be needed and the fund's glide path.
03.31.26 Ask An Advisor With Wes Moss
Q: Is it better to convert traditional IRA money to Roth now or delay until retirement?
Roth conversions depend on today's tax rate versus expected future tax rate in retirement. If you expect to be in a higher tax bracket later, converting now may make sense; otherwise, it may be better to delay. It's not a one-size-fits-all decision and should be modeled in your tax plan.
03.31.26 Ask An Advisor With Wes Moss
Q: Given a couple with 5 million in savings, should they primarily stay in bonds given age and inflation concerns?
A conservative approach with a balanced mix is advisable; start with a portfolio closer to an 80/20 bond-to-equity ratio and gradually reintroduce equity to participate in market upside while maintaining safety. If inflation is a concern, small, staged injections into risk assets can help without full exposure to volatility.
03.30.26 The Credit Bureaus: Errors & Apathy / Sticker Shock: New Smart Phones
Q: Marcus in New York describes IRS fraud where a return was filed under his Social Security number; what should he do next?
Do not file a new refund; expect delays and consider filing a paper return while the situation is resolved; set up an IRS PIN and follow IRS procedures to prevent future fake filings.
03.30.26 The Credit Bureaus: Errors & Apathy / Sticker Shock: New Smart Phones
Q: Linda in Maryland asks what to do about unreported traditional IRA contributions on her 2024 taxes and potential audit flags for 2025.
Amend the 2024 return with a 1040X to claim the missed IRA contributions, which should yield retroactive tax benefits; also consider whether to pivot toward a Roth IRA for long-term tax-free growth in light of her tax bracket.
