Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Myth: America First w/ Kim Miller
Q: In your opinion, is this, so is this a betrayal of America First?
America First is such an amorphous slogan, and the way it's been deployed throughout US political history means it's not surprising that Trump would still be incredibly pro-Israel.
Myth: America First w/ Kim Miller
Q: What was your initial impression of America First when you originally heard the term?
I first heard America First with the 2016 Trump presidential campaign, and immediately it rang as a dog whistle to me because his campaign was particularly vitriolic toward Mexican migrants.
Myth: Poor Caribbean Savages Pt. 2 (w/ Austin Cole & Erica Caines)
Q: What are some of the connections between repressions Africans face in the Caribbean and here in the US?
The issues facing Africans in the Caribbean resonate similarly with those faced in the US, indicating a shared struggle against white supremacy and colonial frameworks that oppress both communities.
Myth: Easier to Organize Under Democrats Pt. 2 (w/ Max Rameau)
Q: How can dual power be built?
Building dual power requires organizing communities, establishing clear ideological goals, and providing logistical support for the delivery of services that meet material needs effectively.
Myth: Easier to Organize Under Democrats Pt. 2 (w/ Max Rameau)
Q: What is dual power?
Dual power refers to a situation where two entities are competing for power in the same space; this was illustrated historically during the Russian Revolution by the Soviets and provisional government. The term emphasizes creating competing structures that can deliver services to the community, such as education and food, independent of the state.
