  • Great Theology, Great Chemistry

These two were an excellent resource during my catechesis as a young adult Lutheran convert. Their recall of scripture and ability to give succinct answers to these questions always impresses me. They work well together and fill in each other’s knowledge gaps when needed.

  • God Be Praised

Pastor Wolfmueller and Pastor Packer are a breath of fresh air. While remaining solidly confessional in their delivery, they present as approachable, caring - you know, pastoral. That cannot always be said for many confessional pastors who would rather just throw theology at you than care for the needs and wellbeing (even the emotions!!) of their parishioners. Thank you for this!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Q&A: Can you pray with Christians from other denominations? What if a Christian does not go to church? More.
Q: Are Christians who don't attend church still truly Christian?
Being a Christian without regular church attendance is possible in a limited sense, but it is not good or sustainable; regularly gathering for Word and Sacrament is essential for feeding faith, and skipping church should be addressed with prayer, accountability, and a plan to engage with a local body of believers.
Q&A: Can you pray with Christians from other denominations? What if a Christian does not go to church? More.
Q: Can you pray with other Christians?
Yes, it can be appropriate to pray with fellow Christians, especially in private or family settings, but one should avoid praying in a way that endorses or aligns with other denominations' false doctrines. Be mindful of practices like praying to saints or in contexts where non-Lutheran beliefs are being asserted; in public or large interfaith settings, it's best to maintain boundaries and not participate in prayers that contradict core Lutheran confessions.
Theology Q&A: Why are people leaving the Lutheran Church? Should you send your protestant child to a Catholic school? How do I handle a breakup after dating someone from my church? More.
Q: How should one handle a breakup with someone they dated within the church?
Treat it as a vocational conversation centered on loving the neighbor and minimizing awkwardness. Give space if needed, possibly attend different services, maintain kindness, and focus on mutual wellbeing as brothers and sisters in Christ, with a clear intent to move forward in a healthy, faithful way.
Theology Q&A: Why are people leaving the Lutheran Church? Should you send your protestant child to a Catholic school? How do I handle a breakup after dating someone from my church? More.
Q: Is sending a Protestant child to a Roman Catholic school advisable, given best academics and activities, and what should parents watch for?
The hosts acknowledge that private Catholic schools can offer strong academics and activities but warn that true doctrinal formation must be actively pursued at home. Parents should stay engaged, ask about theology, assess the presence of catechesis, and ensure their children are grounded in Lutheran teaching despite classroom exposure to Catholic doctrine.
Theology Q&A: Why are people leaving the Lutheran Church? Should you send your protestant child to a Catholic school? How do I handle a breakup after dating someone from my church? More.
Q: What explains the movement away from Lutheran theology after decades of immersion in it?
People often move for a mix of relational pull, perceived feelings of religiosity elsewhere, social ties, or a sense that other churches offer something more welcoming or engaging—even if the doctrinal difference seems small at first. The hosts acknowledge that motives are complex and rarely purely rational, and stress the importance of honest dialogue and discernment.
