  • Great Theology, Great Chemistry

These two were an excellent resource during my catechesis as a young adult Lutheran convert. Their recall of scripture and ability to give succinct answers to these questions always impresses me. They work well together and fill in each other’s knowledge gaps when needed.

  • God Be Praised

Pastor Wolfmueller and Pastor Packer are a breath of fresh air. While remaining solidly confessional in their delivery, they present as approachable, caring - you know, pastoral. That cannot always be said for many confessional pastors who would rather just throw theology at you than care for the needs and wellbeing (even the emotions!!) of their parishioners. Thank you for this!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Q&A: Handling suffering? The final judgment? Is every job a God-given calling? More.
Q: Is every job or calling truly God-given, and how should we evaluate vocations?
God's calling includes a broad range of vocations as long as they serve neighbor and align with God's commands; Christians should assess vocations through the commandments, neighbor's need, personal gifts, and the good of others, avoiding a narrow definition that excludes many legitimate and god-pleasing roles.
Q&A: Handling suffering? The final judgment? Is every job a God-given calling? More.
Q: How should we understand the final judgment for believers vs. unbelievers?
The speakers emphasize that believers are judged for faithfulness and rewards in Christ, not for salvation; eternal life is secured by faith in Jesus, while non-believers face condemnation, with the resurrection and judgment day reframing as both a judgment and a gift depending on one's relationship to Christ.
Q&A: Was Luther's Break from Rome sinful? How can we reunify the church? Calvinism vs Arminianism? More.
Q: If I as a woman was to start dating a Christian guy outside my church, how do I encourage him towards becoming Lutheran without stepping into spiritual leadership?
Dating should aim for shared biblical understanding, not conversion pressure; ideally date a fellow believer, or if dating across confessions, involve pastors to navigate doctrinal differences. The goal is mutual growth in scriptural fidelity, chastity, and unity in Christ, not coercive outcomes; prayerful discernment is essential.
Q&A: Was Luther's Break from Rome sinful? How can we reunify the church? Calvinism vs Arminianism? More.
Q: Is the Roman's road compatible with Lutheran beliefs?
The road can be useful for illustrating sin, need, and Christ's redemption, but should culminate in baptism and the Word rather than a mere sinner's prayer; the emphasis should be on baptismal union with Christ and the ongoing life of faith in the church.
Q&A: Was Luther's Break from Rome sinful? How can we reunify the church? Calvinism vs Arminianism? More.
Q: Where do Lutheran beliefs slot in Calvinism vs Arminianism?
They acknowledge the tension between divine sovereignty and human responsibility, rejecting both double predestination and unconditional free will in its extreme forms. Lutheranism seeks to hold God's control while affirming the universality of Christ's offering, avoiding the false dichotomy and emphasizing confession and the gospel.
