  • One of my “go-to” Podcasts

I’m a grew-up-Pentecostal-became-Presbyterian-in-college Christian, but I love this podcast. I’ve learned a lot about Lutheran theology and practice, and I always find these conversations challenging and enriching. This podcast is not just for Lutherans. In fact, I think I benefit so much from it, because I am not Lutheran. It challenges me to really consider my positions where we differ, and it strengthens my resolve where we agree. Thanks to Caleb, Scott, Adam, and Bruce for these regular epis... more

  • Salt of the earth

3 old salts that haven't lost their saltiness. Could use a little pepper though. They're like 3 quarks spinning the same direction or 3 blonde waitresses at the truck stop. Every baseball player knows that a good coach will sometimes take him back to the basics. These fellows consistently plant their back foot on the cross of Christ and the empty tomb. Solid scriptural teaching illuminates both historical and modern Christian teachers. No bells or whistles but if you want Rock solid Theology the... more

  • Lutheran Podcasting for all to Enjoy

This is a really approachable show. They come from a confessional Lutheran perspective but the conversations are enjoyable for all. The new series on a Lutheran identity crisis is especially well received.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

What Is the Athanasian Creed, and Why Does It Matter?
Q: How should modern believers approach creeds in a Lutheran or confessional context?
Creeds are a communal confession of Scripture's teaching, not additions to Scripture; they articulate the church's unified understanding of God and salvation.
What Is the Athanasian Creed, and Why Does It Matter?
Q: Is salvation dependent on understanding every line of the Creed?
No; salvation is secured by trust in Jesus Christ, while the Creed serves to identify the true God and provide a faithful framework for confessing the faith.
What Is the Athanasian Creed, and Why Does It Matter?
Q: What exactly is the Athanasian Creed trying to clarify beyond the Nicene Creed?
It adds explicit detail to the humanity and deity of Christ and clarifies how the Trinity is confessed, addressing errors that blur or separate the natures of Jesus and the persons of the Godhead.
A Reasoned Defense of the Faith
Q: What do you say to people to make them take Christianity more seriously?
You should take them to the resurrection, as it's a historical event that carries significant consequences for belief and behavior.
A Reasoned Defense of the Faith
Q: What is positive apologetics, and how does it address these common ways of addressing apologetics?
Positive apologetics is a persuasive approach that focuses on providing a reason for the hope within, contrasting with negative apologetics which critiques other views. It builds on a foundation of gospel proclamation.
