This podcast is one of the best podcasts about Christian history that I've ever found. I have learned so much that has deepen my faith and expanded my understanding of where we come from as Christians and the history of God's work in the world. Dr. Dan Van Voris is an incredible host and an expert in his field of study (Church History). I highly recommend this to anybody who is interested in history.

  • The Rumors are True!

This podcast is excellent! Interesting, well-researched, thought-provoking, and appropriately humorous. I appreciate the wide breath of church history and traditions which it covers. I thoroughly enjoy listening to it daily!

It’s also super meaningful and encouraging to hear “…In Christ: The rumors of grace, forgiveness, and the redemption of all things are true. Everything is going to be okay.

  • Everything is going to be okay!

My all-time favorite podcast! I’ve been listening since the first season in 2019 and greatly appreciate all the hard work, great research, and cheesy puns in each episode. I’ve learned so much about the church visible, and am so grateful for the ecumenical knowledge.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Monday, October 13, 2025
Q: Doesn't the vast number of Protestant denominations prove the need for an authoritative source to understand Christian doctrine?
The diversity of opinions on certain doctrines suggests that there are varied interpretations of Scripture, but Scripture itself remains the primary authority.
Monday, September 22, 2025
Q: In a different world, could the Lutherans or Methodists or others have been seen as an order within the broader Church, say, in the 1400s?
Possibly, but the consolidation of power in the Catholic Church during the 15th and 16th centuries made that unlikely.
Monday, September 22, 2025
Q: Would it be fair to compare Catholic orders with Protestant confessions?
Yes, there are similarities and dissimilarities, particularly in how they trace their distinct historical narratives and the vows taken by members of Catholic orders compared to Protestants.
Monday, September 15, 2025
Q: What is the history of catechism and its relevance in both Catholic and Protestant circles?
Catechism has its origins in preparation for baptism and evolved through the Church's tradition, highlighted by ecumenical efforts, particularly in the Protestant Reformation.
Tuesday, September 16, 2025
Q: Can you give me a defense as to why non-Catholics should care about various saints?
Dan explains that while all Christians are saints, it is crucial to learn from the examples set by saints rather than glorifying them, as all saints were also sinners.
