I’m in awe of all the editors who created the Roundtable Podcast! Each has taken Shawn Coyne’s Story Grid methodology to heart and has assimilated the knowledge to produce an amazing body of work from which we can learn. I can’t begin to imagine the time invested in preparing for each podcast...week after week for years. Kudos to all of you!
This is such a well-organized show and the passion and knowledge of the Roundtablers makes it fun to listen to. I almost always learn something important to my craft, even if the genre is not one that I’m interested in at the moment.
I'm adding to my original review below. I'm removing a star, down from three to two. The podcast made some improvements since they began. The opening comments are more succinct, and they seem to be choosing better films.
However, the discussions sometimes veer away from an analysis of a film using the Grid methodology. Instead, the podcast becomes a venue for an editor to review a film from a cultural or political perspective, or the editor just give a personal opinion about whether nor not the... more
