I was looking forward to a feminist take on the books, and their discussions on sexism in the books were quite validating. I also found their unconventional views on Iluvatar and Morgoth interesting. I tolerated their groans (although a mood-spoiler) when discussing names in the Silmarillion, because I know that the book is a difficult read. I wish that I had listened to this podcast when it was live because I would have written in all the time. Such interesting conversation! I listened to several episodes of another podcast that basically read the Silmarillion as scripture. As someone who doesn’t even read scripture as scripture, it felt very preachy to me.
