  • Everything I Didn’t Know That I Needed To Know!

This show is AMAZING! I had no idea what a small ship cruise was. I never really had any interest in being on a huge ship in the middle of the ocean with thousands of people and rogue waves. But now I know that there are so many alternatives with beautiful views, great food, A LOT less people, and close to shore. I’m sold! I can’t wait to try some out!

Q: How should a solo traveler approach river cruising to determine if it's right for them?
Singles should look for itineraries with built-in social opportunities but also spaces where they can be alone. Pre-plan days to socialize, but leave room for self-directed activities like city explorations, and choose a ship size that balances community with personal space.

Q: Why is Norway leading in cruise sustainability, and what are the practical limitations?
The hosts and Joel discuss Norway's regulatory push toward zero-emission vessels for fjord cruising, the heavy battery infrastructure requirements, and the recognition that long ocean crossings still rely on conventional fuels for now, with gradual transition as biogas availability and fueling infrastructure expand.
