  • Love the tips!

This is a great podcast full of information to help me use my credit cards as efficiently as possible. But the cadence of the host is a little too choppy lately. Lots of halting speech so that it sounds like reading off a script. I know that is a minor pet peeve but it does make the podcast hard to listen to for me. The interviews are more natural.

  • Still good but not trending in the right direction

I used to hear all of Devon’s podcast episodes. Lately they’ve been a bit rambling, excessively long, filled with friends talking about themselves (within points context) where the podcast becomes way less helpful than it was at a point. The podcast has the potential to be as helpful as it was but Devon needs to be mindful about adding value vs simply talking for longer.

156. Making Large Family Award Travel Actually Work with Dr. Alison Curfman (Part 2)
Q: Before you step on an airplane, to what extent do you involve your kids in the travel planning and conversations about where you're going?
They're involved early and often, with discussions about options, collecting opinions, and giving them a vote on daily activities, which not only builds excitement but also reduces resistance later.
159. The Hyatt Award Chart Overhaul: Points Strategy Shifts with The Points and Miles Doc
Q: What exactly is Hyatt changing with their award chart, and why now?
Hyatt is moving from a three-tier pricing model per category to five pricing tiers, expanding the potential point spread within each category and altering how many points are needed for peak vs off-peak stays. This creates greater price variability and unpredictability, particularly for high-end properties, and seems to be driven by inflation, demand for luxury travel, and broader shifts in the points ecosystem.
