  • Bitter

Matt’s Cruise Critic episode really turned me off. He has never been on Virgin Voyages and he has so much to say about it them and other cruise lines. Get over yourself. So one sided, which makes sense since this is the RCL Blog, but maybe don’t dedicate episodes to other lines then.

  • If you will

You can always tell the intelligence of someone by how many times they use this idiotic saying. Poor Matt uses it 100x an episode. Between that and the awful Caribbean music this podcast is a D. Would not recommend.

  • Could be much better

While I appreciate the host and all he does the constant use of “if you will” doesn’t do well for his intelligence and the steel drum music is way too loud. Hire a producer!

The truth about hurricane season
Q: What practical tips does the host offer for travelers booking in hurricane season, especially regarding port choices and timing?
Book with flexibility in mind, consider winter travel for less hurricane risk, and be open to alternative ports or itineraries; for example, if a desired port is likely unavailable, a ship may call at another nearby port while still delivering a solid overall experience.
The truth about hurricane season
Q: How should cruisers think about the risk of itinerary changes versus cancellations during hurricane season, and what can they expect in terms of compensation?
Cruisers should expect itinerary changes rather than cancellations, and compensation is usually onboard credits or small gestures rather than formal contractual obligations; the decision hinges on safety and port viability rather to keep the original plan.
The truth about hurricane season
Q: What is the usual protocol if a hurricane affects a departure port, and how likely is a sailing to be canceled during hurricane season?
Generally, sailings are not canceled; more common are itinerary changes such as port swaps or reordered calls, with closures of home ports potentially shortening or lengthening a voyage in rare cases. The likelihood of a complete cancellation is very low, unless the storm sits over the home port for an extended period.
Royal Caribbean says more travelers are booking late and paying more
Q: Do guests in suites still dine in the main dining room?
Yes, guests in suites commonly dine in both Coastal Kitchen and the main dining room, with reservations recommended for Coastal Kitchen.
Worth it, not worth it on Legend of the Seas
Q: Is the breakfast or dining plan worth it for a short cruise?
The host suggests a three-night dining package on certain ships balances flexibility and cost, recommending it for evenings when the main dining room or Windjammer menus don't align with personal tastes.
