Today we're sharing a classic Sean Cole work from his time on the documentary team at WBUR's Inside Out. It's a beautiful work of scene and memory, taking listeners to a reunion for a town that hasn't physically existed for generations.
Today we're featuring a excerpt of a work that explores the relationship of art, documentary, and history through a search for class struggle in Appalachia. Beyond the limited academic concept of oral history, I Can Almost See the Lights of Home: A ... more
This week we're featuring a super interesting conversation with Eleanor McDowall, creator of Radio Atlas, about the world of the radio feature and the artistry of audio works that aren't in English.

I’m a podcast producer and the last few years have been a bit heartbreaking. I find myself only listening to chatcasts and recap podcasts…it’s easy on the brain, I guess. But I finally came around to trying this show, which I’ve been curious about for a long time but was never “in the mood.” Actually an episode I had downloaded just started autoplaying yesterday. And I’m so glad I did. This feed reminds me why I became a producer. Every episode really is special and beautifully crafted and inter... more
I listened to 2 eps of The Selects. The 1st was really good! The 2nd, Concerning Breakfast really needs trigger warnings. It's about eating disorders and has explicit descriptions of anorexic behaviours and body types. But weirdly, it's not just that that didn't include a trigger warning. They actually went out of their way to make it a "surprise" topic. You can't just spring things like that on people. You need to give them the option to consent to the topic, or to protect their mental health.
I love love love this idea! I can’t tell you how often I’m perusing my podcast feed or typing into my search bar looking for audio pieces like these. This is just priceless and so satisfying.
Always look forward to hearing what Selects has dug up!
