  • Everything you never knew you needed to know about clothing

Regardless of how you feel about clothing, this podcast is a fascinating history of all things clothing. And it isn’t all fashion! Clothing is function and history and politics as well!

  • Whaaat???

I didn’t have any interest in fashion beyond a casual archeological or psychological curiosity until this show.

Well, for years that scene has seemed entirely obnoxious and absurd to me… until this show. Holy moly. I’m convinced that everything is fashion because of this show. Y’all, this show is so incredible. R... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Taxes and Tariffs
Q: So, how do they do it and how can we fix this? And you might be asking, does this really have to do with clothing?
The discussion ties tariffs and taxes to everyday dress and living standards, illustrating how policy shapes prices on clothing and consumer goods as part of a broader wealth-and-tax system.
Betty & Veronica
Q: How should we talk about the Comics Code, Joel?
We should frame it as a moral panic that reshaped editorial decisions, forcing creators to temper content while still allowing fashion-forward storytelling through alternative formats like pinups and digest pages.
Zippers
Q: How high tech are you allowed to get with the sewing machines?
Ruth shares that some Amish communities allow computerized sewing machines.
Zippers
Q: Why don't you wear zippers?
Lydia explains that zippers are considered too modern for her community; they focus on simplicity.
