  • Usually love, but SKIP Erica B

Great apolitical show. Real news. Very balanced. But this week brought on Erica B, and she is terrible. 1 star. She is polarizing and snarky, in the worst way. Better off flying solo or bring back Kevin S, all time favorite.

  • Good and bad…

I really like the host, Brian, but David from Seattle Times is such a bummer regarding the city of Seattle. I wish they would rotate guests and maybe have someone with a little positivity when thinking about the future of the city.

  • Good info but need an insider

The info provided on current issues within the council is helpful but I think it’s lost the insider edge. Kevin’s departure left a hole since he got into the details on many topics and had background on why something was going the way it was. He also had history on council actions and what they were really trying to do. The new guy (Kroman?) isn’t covering the council and doesn’t seem interested to get into details. On today’s podcast, when asked about the tone of council on a topic, that he doe... more

  • Good wonky podcast on seattle politics, but could be a lot better

The foundation here is solid- callahan is good at keeping things moving, and the two know what’s up in city council. I’m sponsoring them on Patreon.

There’s a lot that needs work though. Instead of just reporting on what happened in council, the show would be a lot better if they had a council member on each show and asked some interesting questions. They also have this dumb recipe segment at the end that makes no sense for the podcast.

Patrons-First Podcast with Sharon Lee of the Low Income Housing Institute!
Q: How does LIHI envision siting and expanding tiny house villages while addressing neighborhood concerns and safety?
She emphasizes engagement with neighbors, clear codes of conduct, and integrated services (case management, health, and safety), plus appropriate staffing and coordination with police and fire to ensure villages are safe, accessible, and connected to broader housing options.
Patrons-First Podcast with Sharon Lee of the Low Income Housing Institute!
Q: What is your assessment of the mayor's plan to expand shelter units, and why do you support it?
Sharon Lee explains that the plan is necessary because Seattle has a large unsheltered population and the city needs scalable, practical options like tiny house villages that can be deployed quickly, with LIHI contributing through creative financing, land use partnerships, and on-site services to move people toward housing.
Patrons-First Podcast: Surveillance Cams, Police Contracts, and More with Councilmember Bob Kettle
Q: Can care be as effective as you want it to be if they're not able to use their own judgment on these cases?
Kettle acknowledges adjustments are needed as the program continues to evolve and aims for a lessons-learned culture.
Patrons-First Podcast: Surveillance Cams, Police Contracts, and More with Councilmember Bob Kettle
Q: Should Seattleites be concerned about the expansion of surveillance cameras in our city?
Councilmember Kettle emphasizes that Seattle has a different system than other jurisdictions and highlights the safeguards that have been enacted for privacy and data access.
2026 Episode 3: Can Seattle Keep ICE Out?, SPD Protest Questions, Social Housing's Future
Q: David, looking at this protest at council chambers last week over ICE agents, there were a lot of loud voices there, including former City Councilmember Shama Sawant.
Council President Joy Hollingsworth is trying to give more latitude to crowd reactions rather than shutting them down, which reflects a noticeable shift from previous presidents.
