I want to like this show and have been a long time listener, but as a Gen Z kid with many friends in the service industry, Joni Balter's comments made me downright nauseous. "Seattle should pay more respect to Starbucks"? Joni Balter should talk about respecting Starbucks to the employees who've been laid off at the Roastery without notice, or all the employees who have been victim to their union-busting practices.

I appreciate the local discussions. I prefer a more balanced panel, please include young people, middle aged, elders and a more varied political perspective.
Each week the recap of news and events is discussed with thoughtful care and in understandable terms. The staff at KUOW do the best job at keeping the topics interesting and engaging all while explaining their importance to Seattleites.
Wonderful show for staying informed about local issues in Washington State that provides balance between Washington’s diverse political perspectives. Highly recommend for people of any political leaning!
Also, the host has a quick wit and great charisma!
I have noticed this year 2 occasions where they sounded so conservative… I don’t always listen, but usually it was a lighthearted discussion. A Friday roundtable that breaks down Seattle's week in news through a mix of journalism, policy analysis, and practical anecdotes. Episodes routinely weigh local politics, housing policy, tax debates, and business climate considerations against real-world impacts on residents, workers, and regional growth. A distinctive strength is the civically minded panel format that blends reporters, policymakers, and business voices to surface multiple viewpoints while keeping complex issues understandable. Notable threads often include how big employers influence city planning, how homelessness solutions intersect with budgeting, and the role of technology and energy in urban policy, all anchored by a witty, approachable host.
