  • Going downhill

This podcast is becoming almost unlistenable. The sound quality is barely audible. Come on guys, it’s 2026. Either get better equipment or a sound engineer. The content is there but that doesn’t matter if you can’t hear it.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Oz Pearlman--mentalist and marathoner
Q: Can you describe the White House Correspondents' Dinner incident and what you learned from it?
I was on stage performing for the President and First Lady when armed security swarmed the room; I learned to stay calm under extreme uncertainty, rely on training and presence, and appreciate how quickly life can change, which reinforced gratitude and perspective.
Oz Pearlman--mentalist and marathoner
Q: How do you apply mentalist skills to running and performance?
Running provides a space for ideation and creativity; I use visualization, focus, and calm under pressure learned through thousands of shows to stay composed during performances and races, and I apply misdirection and audience-awareness techniques to stay present and manage nerves on stage as well as on the road.
Oz Pearlman--mentalist and marathoner
Q: Oz, what got you into running and why have you stuck with it all these years?
I started running after college as a way to find rhythm and a goal, initially inspired by a sibling's marathon and the idea that fast enough pace could get me into Boston; over time I adopted heart-rate training, zone-based mileage, and a love for long efforts, which helped me progress from a 3:21 first marathon to much faster times, while learning to listen to my body and stay consistent.
Graham Blanks
Q: Graham, what are your feelings about doping in running?
Graham expresses understanding of the pressures athletes may face to dope but firmly believes as an American in a comfortable position, he would never consider it.
Graham Blanks
Q: What is a typical day like for you as a professional runner?
A typical day involves waking up, running either a regular or long run, followed by lunch and treatment or lifting later in the day, depending on the workout schedule.
