[Apologies but the recording is quite poor at the start, but improves. Please bear with it - Nick]
John Granger shared privately with Nick Jeffery that he thought it would be a good idea to read C. S. Lewis’ Till We Have Faces, a re-telling of the C... more
This is the second of a series of posts about the literary alchemy of J. K. Rowling, a discussion jumpstarted by a post by ‘Iris’ at a Strike fan website, an article that championed a Jungian perspective on this subject. The first post in this series... more
Nick Jeffery and John Granger met up last Sunday — St David’s Day in Wales and the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy — to talk about John’s first Hallmarked Man names post, ‘The Allegorical Cryptonyms of The Hallmarked Man, Part One: Ten Cratylic Ch... more

Absolutely LOVE(!) to listen to these two. I have finally found a community of people who care about the lake and shed as much as I do!
Nick’s incredible lake insights, together with John’s detail-oriented research of shed, is an incredible listening experience. I am always surprised at how much goes over my head when reading Rowling, but listening to these two helps me learn more.
My only critique: I wish there were more episodes! ;)
Hello!! I am here because a few years ago I read How Harry Cast His Spell, and wanted more! To my dismay, the podcast started out with all these references to Rowlings other works, so I had to go read those! Being a Christian, I can’t recommend reading any of the others except the Ickabog and The Christmas Pig, due to their graphic and sometimes sexual content and language, though I did benefit in my understanding and enjoyment from these works in different ways. This podcast is in-depth and goe... more
Longtime Potterhead and reader of JK; the layers of analysis and context provided is awesome! All delivered in entertaining dialogue. Found myself relistening
I never knew Rowling could be so much fun before listening to John and Nick. It’s like a satisfying detective novel, but about literature and happening in real time.
Absolutely LOVE(!) to listen to these two! Nick’s incredible insight, together with John’s detail-oriented research and opinions, is an incredible experience. My only critique, I wish there were more episodes! :)

A scholarly, debate-driven show that dives into the symbolism, mythic references, and narrative structures embedded in JK Rowling's works and related literary worlds. Episodes frequently dissect names, epigraphs, symbols, and mythological motifs, pairing close textual analysis with playful fan-theory exploration. Noteworthy is the presenters' willingness to connect obscure etymologies and historical references to contemporary fiction, making it appealing for listeners who enjoy deep literature conversations and cross-textual comparisons. The format often features two co-hosts with a strong collaborative dynamic, plus occasional guests who contribute to the same field of literary analysis and Rowling studies.
