Alex loves to talk about himself so be prepared to hear about his has been glory days. He should let his guests talk more, refrain from saying “Dude” so often, and stop acting so “surprised” when guests talk about themselves.
“Men being men”? Tired of the blatantly sexist overtones (including but not limited to male superiority, interrupting women, etc), pedantic and condescending tone, and general “holier than thou” soapbox mentality of the podcast. Great to have perspective on the sport of rowing and to amplify voices, but sadly I feel more often than not that Alex’s (and other male coaches) is the voice amplified.
I love listening to Alex’s insightful interviews while driving and erging. This series is more than just a few tips and pointers from the pros. It is truly insightful into what makes boats go fast, from the greatest minds in rowing. It also is documenting coaches for the ages. The Rower’s choice podcast is one that I look forward to every week. Alex DelSordo does an amazing job interviewing coaches and rowers from different levels. The insights that he and his team garner from each interview are incredibly valuable to any rower, parent of a rower and other coaches at all levels. His goal is to make rowing more popular and more accessible to the masses and through the exchange of ideas in his interviews he is well on his way to accomplishing it.
Rowers Choice brings a ton of enthusiasm and much needed conversations to the sport of rowing. They have on guests with amazing careers and perspectives to share. The interviewers are charismatic and make every episode engaging.
